What do you mean? As long as it has the same name it will be recognised by WP.
but how would I make the new plugins folder functional
?
*refresh, I meant plugins not functions
If you delete the folder, you will have to re-install the plugins. That is why I told you to try downloading it first.
well it’s better than making an new site altogether
turns out I can’t delete the plugins folder either
@Admin help, whenever I try to install plugin it says plugin already exists, I can’t downloads plugins
actually it seems like my plugins weren’t actually deleted, for some reason I am locked out out of my plugins folder
Yes, it looks like you don’t have permission to access it. I don’t know why, but I do know is that you locked everyone out, including Admin.
You will have to delete your entire hosting account and create a new one, or never use and plugins again.
The thing is I didn’t locked everyone else, it just happened something durning the 2002 connection error, didn’t change permissions until you asked me to
Can I add admin privlegdes an user in my sql though?
Not possible on free hosting
It seems that somehow the permissions of your wp-content/plugins/ folder got messed up and got changed to 000
. If you go below 600
, you’re locking yourself out of the folder at which point the folder becomes inaccessible and unusable. Ideally, we’d have protection in place to prevent this from happening, but that’s sadly not feasible.
When this happened, who did this or why this happened, I don’t know. But I think it’s extremely unlikely that a capacity issue at the database servers got permissions of your website files to be messed up. Usually, these permission issues are caused by the account owner accidentally changing the permissions, not a system issue.
So I second the suggestion of @Greenreader9:
The thing is I didn’t change accidentally change the value, I really only became aware of value when greenreader mentioned it, only changed it when greenreader suggested it, there must have been some kind of vulnerability
It does not matter how it got changed, the point is that it got changed. For a vulnerability to have caused this, someone would have to have access to your specific username and password, and the only way for that to happen is if you gave it to someone.
Since the CHMOD is set below 600, the only way to remove the folder is by deleting the account. Make sure to take a backup of the database first!
Well I never gave away my password though, but if I delete the account will I be able to use the same domain I previous used?
Yes. Just make sure you remove it from the control panel first.
how can I do that?
Open the control panel and find the “Addon Domains” section, and delete the domain. If you don;t see it there, check the “Parked Domains” section.
alright, I think the issue was me trying to change the values when you asked me to when I could have redownloaded the plugins
