Just double-checking.

It looks like something got messed up with the folder then. Are you allowed to download it?

If so, download the folder and confirm that it downloaded. Next, delete the folder from FileZilla, then re-upload it.

what folder are you asking me to try to download?

The one you are having issues with, plugins.

I am not going to be available for the next 30+ minutes, just so you know.

If you cannot download it, you are going to have to re-install WP. It may not let you do that, so you may have to delete your entire hosting account and create a new one. BEFORE you do any of that, BACKUP the database first so you can use the same one, most of your data is stored there, so you will not have to start from scratch.

alright then

can create an new plugins folder and delete the old one?

Yes, you can do that

could you rename plugins folder and use that? or rename it back to plugins?
how would you make new plugins folder functional?

No. Don’t rename it, because the permissions errors will no go away. Just do this…

  1. Download the plugins folder onto your computer
  2. Delete the plugins folder from the server
  3. Upload the plugins folder from your computer onto the server
  4. Check that the plugins folder has 755 permissions, if not, set them

but if I can’t downloads the plugins folder, can I delete old plugins folder an new folder?

You should be able to, yes.
