The main reason you can’t find out how to do it is that it’s not possible to do it while using our nameservers.
But a guide on how to configure custom DNS records would indeed be helpful.
All the official guides can be found in the Documentation category, but you can also view it in a more Wiki-style layout here: Docs
We had a separate documentation site before, but ended up moving everything into the forum. Mainly because you can now use the forum search to search everything all at once: official documentation, community guides and previous topics about similar issues.
And from your description, I’m having the idea the problem is mainly with the guides themselves lacking, and even the best wiki system in the world can’t solve the problem of a guide not having been written.
Right, I get that we can’t create TXT records on Infinityfree.
I have a domain I use (worderland.us). Am I able to add a TXT record to it? How do I activate an MX record to send myself mail to my gmail account? It’s not very clear.
I’m helping my hapless brother set up a website to promote his writing, and I think I have most of it working at the moment. We’ll see.
Overall though, thank you all for the free service. If I can work it all out, I can make a great website that doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg on Ionos.
@Tori_Chambers Just FYI, if you decide to dump GoDaddy (or just would like an additional free domain, e.g., though https://domain.digitalplat.org/), as specified, Cloudflare doesn’t seem to allow hosting these types of domains.
Thanks for sharing. I’ve been looking at somewhere where I can get a free domain for some work I’m doing. Shame they don’t play nicely with cloudflare though
We do not provide full TXT record management with our hosting. You can setup SPF records through our panel, but that’s it. If you want more DNS controls, you can use external nameservers for your domain name. This guide to Cloudflare may be helpful to you: A Full Guide To Cloudflare
However, please note that an MX record is not the same as an email forwarder, and cannot be used to just forward everything to a Gmail account. If that’s what you want, you could either choose Google Workspace, which is like Gmail but for your own domain (but quite pricey), or just use a (free) email forwarding service like ImprovMX or Cloudflare Email Routing to forward the mail to your Gmail account.
That’s interesting. I was looking into Python, and I began using Django. I was like, I kind of like the framework; disappointing that it doesn’t seem to be easily done in pure Python. Maybe I just overlooked things though. Right after I began studying, I got hired again, so I stopped. Maybe look into this again. I thank you for sharing.
