Website DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN on Jio Mobile Network

Error Message

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

Other Information

My website works on Jio mobile data when I set Private DNS to dns.google.

However, when I set Private DNS to Automatic, the website does not open and Chrome shows DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN.

I checked the domain using DNSChecker, and it appears to resolve correctly.

Welcome to the InfinityFree community forum! Good to have you here.

  • Most people answering here are volunteers. They’re often the fastest source of help. Admin (the only staff member) checks in about once a day for issues on our end.
  • Volunteers can’t see your account or website. Share what you actually see, like error messages and what happens when you try something. That’s more useful than your theory of what’s wrong.
  • AI tools often get InfinityFree wrong. If a volunteer’s advice differs from what an AI told you, please try the volunteer’s suggestion first.
  • Solving an issue is a joint effort. Try the suggestions you get and report back what happened.

Can you run nslookup mtdeliveryapp.page.gd on the default Jio DNS, then nslookup mtdeliveryapp.page.gd 8.8.8.8, and post both outputs? It would also help to know whether the site opens on a different network, such as Wi-Fi from another provider. That would show whether this is only Jio’s resolver or something more general.

The same symptom has come up on the forum before with page.gd subdomains on Jio, where Google DNS works and Jio’s default DNS doesn’t. It might be the same thing here. These are the topics I found:

A Jio user reporting NXDOMAIN on Jio DNS while Google DNS resolved correctly:

A Jio user getting SERVFAIL instead of NXDOMAIN, with the nslookup comparison across resolvers:

Neither of those topics has an answer I could cite. So I can’t tell you why Jio’s resolver behaves this way, and I won’t guess. The nslookup output will show whether your case matches them.

If Google DNS gets the right answer and Jio’s resolver returns NXDOMAIN, the problem is in what Jio’s resolver is returning. Nothing in your hosting account’s settings would change that. If that’s what the output shows, it’s something a person on our staff would need to look at.

I simplified your message to make it easier to understand for others.

Judging from your message it is probably unrelated to InfinityFree, as the problem occurs when you use a different DNS provider.

Other Information

My website https://mtdeliveryapp.page.gd/home.php works correctly on Airtel and other mobile networks, but it does not open on Jio mobile data when using automatic DNS.

Chrome displays DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN.

I tested my domain using Google DNS, and it successfully resolved to IP address 185.27.134.218 with status NOERROR.

This looks like Jio filtering your domain, not a problem with your hosting. I can’t confirm that from here, though.

Your account is active, and the IP Google DNS gave you (185.27.134.218) matches the website IP on your hosting account. So the domain is set up correctly. Our article on this error says that when a domain resolves on public DNS but gets “not found” on one provider’s DNS, that provider is probably filtering it. It also says this is most common with free subdomains, because some providers block a whole free domain rather than individual sites.

The article is here:

The article suggests two ways around it:

  • Your own domain name: If you use your own domain, a block on the free domain doesn’t affect you.
  • Public DNS: Switching a device to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) or Google (8.8.8.8) fixes it for that device. Your visitors on Jio would still be blocked.

You can also contact Jio and ask them to lift the block. The article says InfinityFree can’t see these blocks from its side, so user reports are how they get tracked.

Other people have reported the same thing on Jio in these topics, which may help if you want to compare notes:

To confirm it’s the same problem, can you run these two commands while connected to Jio, and post the output?

nslookup mtdeliveryapp.page.gd
nslookup mtdeliveryapp.page.gd 1.1.1.1

If the first says NXDOMAIN and the second returns an IP, Jio’s DNS is filtering the domain. If both fail on Jio, the network may be blocking outside DNS servers.

I simplified your message to make it easier to understand for others.

It seems that Jio is actively blocking the free subdomains. This is unfortunately something only Jio can fix, not us, so you must bring this up with Jio if you absolutely need to get your domain working.

Also please understand that posting the same topic twice will not yield a different result.
