I am trying to connect a subdomain (sub.domain.net) to InfinityFree, but my main domain (domain .net) is still pointing to Squarespace and I don’t want to change the nameservers.
I have already set up the required CNAME record for photobox in my current DNS provider (Google Domains) pointing to ns1.byet.org. The DNS checker shows that the CNAME record has propagated successfully, but the website is still not accessible, and I am getting a connection refused error.
Can I connect a subdomain to InfinityFree while keeping my main domain on Squarespace without changing the nameservers? If so, what additional steps do I need to follow to ensure the subdomain is working correctly?
I skipped steps 2 and 5 and didn’t change the nameservers. Instead, I completed the validation with CNAME records. Is that still possible?
Then, I added an A record for the subdomain (blog) with the target being the IP address of my InfinityFree account.
Now, the DNS status is as follows:
Nameservers: (all marked red with an “x”)
ns-cloud-e1.googledomains .com
ns-cloud-e2.googledomains .com
ns-cloud-e3.googledomains .com
ns-cloud-e4.googledomains .com
IP Address: (green with a checkmark)
Is there anything I need to fix or adjust based on this?
