Error Message

429 Too Many Requests - Scanner activity detected

I tested using Chrome DevTools Network. The main document request (abs?i=1) returns status 429, and favicon.ico also returns 429. The homepage does not load at all.

The issue occurs across multiple devices and networks. Could you please investigate whether the anti-scanner security system is blocking my website or whether there is another server-side cause?

My website uses PHP and MySQL. I want to preserve all existing files and database records.

Thank you.

Welcome to the InfinityFree community forum! Good to have you here.

  • Most people answering here are volunteers. They’re often the fastest source of help. Admin (the only staff member) checks in about once a day for issues on our end.
  • Volunteers can’t see your account or website. Share what you actually see, like error messages and what happens when you try something. That’s more useful than your theory of what’s wrong.
  • AI tools often get InfinityFree wrong. If a volunteer’s advice differs from what an AI told you, please try the volunteer’s suggestion first.
  • Solving an issue is a joint effort. Try the suggestions you get and report back what happened.

I couldn’t find an article or answer that explains what triggers the “Scanner activity detected” 429 or how long it lasts. The topics I found with the same error (the two linked below) have no answer that says.

What was happening on the site just before the 429s started? For example, were you or a script sending lots of requests to it, such as repeated refreshes, a crawler, or a page that calls abs?i=1 over and over?

Those two topics describe the same error, so yours might be the same thing. In one of them it only affected one person’s home wifi. You say you see it on multiple devices and networks, so please also tell me whether any of those were on a completely different connection, such as mobile data.

It sounds like your IP triggered too many hits simultaneously, so the security system blocked the request thinking it was an attack. That usually clears fairly quickly.
