Poiting domain to squarespace

Hey everyone,

I’ve built my website on InfinityFree using a free domain ending in rf.gd, powered by WordPress. However, I’m trying to redirect the website to Squarespace using my client’s purchased domain ending in .com. Despite waiting for 72 hours, the transfer hasn’t been successful. Can someone please offer assistance?

InfinityFree subdomains must stay in InfinityFree and cannot be transferred — so I’m not sure what are you talking about.

If you need redirect, just setup redirects, and get rid of the old WP site if you wanted to.

Thank you! Should I simply set up a redirect to have the rf.gd site appear on the .com domain on Squarespace? There haven’t been any actions taken on Squarespace yet. My goal is to have the site I created for rf.gd accessible. I constructed the website using the installed WordPress in the control panel. so i think i want to get rid off the site i made.

To be clear, you want your .com domain to serve your wordpress website instead of .rf.gd?

I think maybe he just needs to park his .com domain name that was purchased from squarespace by changing the name servers to point here but I could be wrong

@Questions12 can you tell us the domain name ? thanks

I’m confused too. Last time I checked, Squarespace is a website building platform, not really a hosting service. If you host your website with Squarespace, you build your website with Squarespace tools, not WordPress. You can’t host WordPress with Squarespace as far as I know.

If, as others have suggested, you purchased a domain at Squarespace to use here, that makes a lot more sense. But then you’re not redirecting your website to Squarespace, you’re pointing your Squarespace domain to your website with us.

And while that may come across as pedantic, it helps to remember what should go to where so you can better understand what needs to be done where.

Can you please tell us what you have done so far and where you are getting stuck?

Also, did you read this article already?

I think I might have confused everyone with the technical details. To sum up, I created my website using a free domain on InfinityFree and built it with WordPress. Recently, I bought a domain on Squarespace (but I haven’t built a website there yet). I’m wondering how I can make everything I built on InfinityFree with WordPress show up when I use the domain I purchased on Squarespace.

Yes. I want to trnasfer WordPress Site(rf.gd) from InfinityFree to SquareSpace Domain. so the .com from squarespace can have all contents I built in wordpress.

I set up my site pivotk12.rf.gd using InfinityFree with the built-in WordPress. Recently, I purchased the domain pivotk12.com through SquareSpace. I followed some recommended steps to transfer my site, and now my new domain shows this message:

“Congratulations! Your new domain is now active. You can now use FTP or the file manager in your cPanel to upload your site.”

Thanks for the help!!. I followed your advice and it show this now.

Cool :+1:

What do I do next please? Do I just use the file manager to update the files? I’m not sure what to do here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i see you have a mix of name servers

its probably best if you stick to using just the infinityfree ones but it might be ok ? im no expert

you said that you already have a site containing your wordpress so really you should link your purchased domain name to this site

so instead of using addon domain (which creates a new site) you should use the parked domain option that will park your domain name onto your main website

you’ll have to remove your addon domain first

or you could just create a new wordpress installation onto the new site

Hi everyone,

I set up my site pivotk12.rf.gd using InfinityFree with the built-in WordPress. Recently, I purchased the domain pivotk12.com through SquareSpace. I followed some recommended steps to transfer my site, and now my new domain shows this messag on my pivotk12.com:

Can someone please help me figure out what to do next to complete the transfer?

Thanks in advance!

I think I messed something up, and my site got suspended, so I had to delete the uploaded xml for in the FTP file manager and it went back normal. To park the domain, I need to add it as an addon domain first so that it appears in the parked domains option. Do you mind walking me through it? I just want everything I built on rf.gd to appear when I access the squarespace.com domain.

Hey there @Questions12,

I see you’re trying to transfer your site over to your new domain. Nice!

It looks like you’ve got the message about using FTP or the cPanel to upload your site files, it gets pretty straightforward from there:

Head over to your cPanel. (cpanel.infinityfree.com)
Find the file manager or FTP option. (Whichever you prefer using to upload the files)
Upload all your pivotk12.rf.gd site files to pivotk12.com. (If you have already downloaded all the files.)

After that, just give it a bit of time to transfer over and stuff, and hopefully soon enough, your site should be up on your new domain.

Hmm, well do you have any ideas on why it got suspended? You could try reaching out to InfinityFree support and they can help get it back online.

If anything I said doesn’t work, lmk, cus I’m just saying tips I think would work.

Also, about putting the domain on infinityfree, if you havent already, there’s tons of tutorials online.
