OpenAI is unreailbe, there is so many outages and gaps in training data

I hate famine, war, pain & suffering. Humans create a large amount of this, so does that mean I hate humanity? IMO, it’s a bit of a false conclusion.

But yes, AI has so many better uses, and it does it a disservice when people use it everywhere on every little thing like it’s some sort of panacea.

Anyways, in other news… I’m back from Japan!

I met you Oxy, and I got to say that your dance moves are sick

BTW, who’s your husband on the left? You should have introduced us to him a long time ago! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I asked chatgpt for a more accurate fraction than 355/113 to approximate pi

It actually got the math wrong !

a computer that cant divide and gets the answer wrong twice !

It started waffling on and I gave up at this point

That’s because it’s a language model. It’s not meant for that.

It works by responding with what it thinks you want to see. It does not respond with fact all the time, unless fact is what it thinks you want.

It’s not trained specifically for mathematical operations. While it can explain what pi is, it has no clue how to actually calculate it, and relies on what it ‘thinks’ pi is based on its training data.

So no, it can’t divide, because that’s not what it was built to do.

I was aware that it’s not designed for this but I would have thought it could do it

heh it’s user error then

I’ve found it to be pretty damn good at translation and linguistic information, but yeah.

It’s meant to predict what it should say next, not hold mathematical information. If you ask it a math question, it’s going to use what it found in its training data about that math question and try its best to say something similar to what most data on that topic has said. Unless you train it specifically on math stuff (like how companies are tweaking GPT model parameters for programming), it’s not going to fair well.

I’ve had good success asking it for clarification of Japanese phrases and grammar, however (and that’s because it learns a language similar to how a human does with its first language - learning words & phrases and what to say next given what you’ve said and what’s been said to you).

Well, sometimes it can do math right. But when it does it right, it usually makes it more complicated then it needs to be.

(I took one step, it took 5)

This exactly

And yeah, you had (have?) good luck with translation stuff because that’s language-based, and more related to what it was trained to do then math is.

EDIT: looking back, it actually did mess up. It declares X as “tons”, which means it output should have been “8,333,333,333.33333…”. It answer is only correct if X is defined as “Billion Tons”, in which it was not.

(And yes, I know it’s “Tonne”, not “Ton”)

I just had a really obnoxious customer in the shop when I was really busy and they wasn’t satisfied that I wasn’t kissing their ass

Then it happened, he said “I’m a streamer and I can ruin your business, do you even know what a streamer is ?” looking smug

I replied “Yes, I know what you are … A lazy fool that sits in front of their computer for hours talking sh1t on your webcam while bigger fools donate money to your broke ass”

Every customer in the shop laughed and the fool left the shop

Since when I can’t add spf (which is essentially txt record) to free subdomain? Then how’s the “Receive emails from free subdomain” guide? ;-;
@B0binch0 try to select the free subdomain. It isn’t showing up.

Strange for me it’s working, I can add spf I just tested

But I think that is only when your subdomain is still under your “Addon Domains” section of the Control Panel; not for subdomains that are on the “Subdomains” section.
