Hi I have been trying to restore my Wordpress (it broke because of the update of the jet pack plugin) but it doesn’t work and I get this message. Any fix?
Go into your Wordpress backup locally and remove the file, “files for your website should be uploaded here!” And the problem should be fixed.
how do I do that? do I remove wp and restore previous backup?
On your computer (or wherever you have the backup), open the backup folder (you might have to unzip) and look for the file “files for your website should be uploaded here!”. Remove it. Then try uploading to Softaculous again.
I dont have a backup folder on my PC and I dont have a file called “files for your website should be uploaded here!” and backup folder is unzipped already
Wait, what is true?
You have a backup folder with the backup from your website. Unzip and open that folder, and locate the file called “files for your website should be uploaded here!”.
There isn’t a backup folder on my pc but I downloaded the backup and it’s in my downloads. There is no file on my pc called “files for your website should be uploaded here!”
So is it in your downloads folder on your PC or not?
Because you have to unzip the backup file first
it’s in my downloads folder in my pc and it’s already unzipped (I dont have an option to unzip only zip)
So you do have folder on your PC. Inside that folder, the file is inside the “hotdocs” directory. Delete that file, than try again
this is what the backup looks like on my PC (in quick access section)
what am I supposed to do
Get 7zip on your pc and extract the file by right clicking and find “7-zip > Extract here”. Then you can proceed as @Greenreader9 said.
EDIT: 7zip site: www.7-zip.org
I’ve extracted the file what do I do next?
Open the extracted folder and delete “files for your website should be uploaded here!”. Then you can zip it again by right clicking 7-Zip > Add to "wp.26_43750.2021-10-27_11-09-21.zip"
. Then you can backup to Softaculous again.
I deleted the “files should b uploaded here!”
Try uploading it to Softaculous! Does it work?
I don’t know how to upload it to softaculous (thank you for the help btw)
The same way you did it the first time…
that was me being dumb (almost done)
*nope didn’t work still same message
tried still doesn’t work
