What should I do if I get suspended for a prank?

Hi there! I need some help. I created a prank website about a hacker attack and uploaded it to the hosting service. Unfortunately, I got suspended. The support team just told me to respond to this ticket for any other questions. And guess what? They are closing my tickets!

I need help from more experienced users or seniors here. What should I do?

Welcome to the forum

Take the loss and learn from it. You’ll still be able to host unrelated websites on your account, but that specific site might be lost.

You can raise a ticket and ask for a backup of your site.

I can appreciate the humor of your prank site, and I’m sorry to hear it’s been suspended

I got whole account suspension

Hello, and welcome to the InfinityFree forum!

True, your intentions were to create a prank website, but your website involved a hacker attack. I don’t know what you would define as a prank involving hacker attacks, but if your account(s) was suspended, then that means InfinityFree’s hosting provider, iFastNet, believed that the prank could be taken serious. Because it is something that is related to hacking, which is against the terms of service, your accounts will be Permanently Suspended. As @dan3008 has said, in my favorite way:

I’m guessing that means that all of your hosting accounts (users of the service are permitted 3 hosting accounts) were Permanently Suspended?

That’s a signal that you did something against our terms of service, and they don’t believe that you will follow the terms of service when they un-suspend your account(s).

If it involves hacking in any way, it could go in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, due to the fact I was not able to see this user’s website, I can’t say if I would find the site humorous. Based on the fact that the user’s account(s) was suspended, it must not be humorous.

Disclaimer: I am not InfinityFree Staff, nor iFastNet staff. I am a user of the InfinityFree services, with growing knowledge of the service. If any of the words that I have spoken are incorrect, and you are either a user of the InfinityFree services that has used such services longer than I have, or if you are InfinityFree staff or iFastNet staff, please correct me.

I didn’t see it either, but I am the sort of person to set up a site that looks like you’ve been hacked, and share it with friends as a joke. What I meant by that is I can see the humor in what they were trying to do.

But I agree that its a risky subject, and probably not one I’d risk here.

Could you please explain the context of what you mean by “about a hacker attack”? I’m not positive if you mean it was threatening an attack, or just reporting on a bogus one, or something else.

That being said sites that legitimately break the TOS are typically not unsuspended, regardless of whether the intention was to cause actual harm or not. For example:

I’d recommend keeping any future such pranks on a local webserver that you don’t make available to the public, just so you don’t risk any real punishment. You can make it look convincing by setting your computer’s hosts file to make a domain name direct you to localhost.

Edit: That being said, the people in charge of answering the suspension tickets ultimately have the final say.

Even though it is a prank, take note:

You will not use this Site or the Services in a manner (as determined by InfinityFree in its sole and absolute discretion) that:

  • Is illegal, or promotes or encourages illegal activity;

Your website encourages an illegal activity (i.e: hacking). That’s probably why your website has been suspended.

We don’t allow hacking related content on our service, end of story. There are no exceptions. Not for learning, not for jokes, not for testing or whatever other reason you may have to commit activities that are typically malicious without the intent to cause harm.

You assumed it would be fine, but you assumed incorrectly.

You did something that is prohibited, and that is grounds for termination of your service. And no, we will not make an exception for you.
