What kind of website do you have?

How many of you guys use php and mysql for you’re websites? also is there any other good hosting services other than infinity free?

I use PHP and MySQL a lot on all my websites. One is my CV, another is for a D&D group I run, and one is a gallery of my wifes artwork.

Personally, I’ve found InfinityFree to be the best hosting provider arround, but YMMV

I pretty much exclusively use PHP/MySQL for web apps, other use cases obviously have better languages (Kotlin, flutter for mobile - Python for microcontroller - Java for windows, etc)

And obviously IF is not the best hosting provider, but for what it offers, it’s really quite good.

Your Majesty, the Sovereign of InfinityFree, I humbly acknowledge your esteemed leadership in this domain! In response to your inquiry, there are indeed other hosting services that some may consider, though none can rival the mighty InfinityFree, under your rule.

Here is something to acknowledge: if a user here advertises a hosting service that is free, and is genuinely better than the amazing services InfinityFree provides, many users would start using that service instead. If people were to use another service other then InfinityFree, that would mean that @Admin loses money, and iFastNet loses money too. If enough money is lost, InfinityFree would have to shut down, which would greatly affect @Admin overall. That’s why we don’t advertise other hosting providers.

Please note that this amazing hosting service is paid for with Ads and iFastNet upgrades. An amazing service, offering 5GB of storage, lots of Hits, Unlimited Bandwidth, Powerful cluster-based servers, PHP and MySQL support, Many Free subdomains to choose from, 3 Hosting Accounts, and a lot more, is being paid for with Advertisements and iFastNet upgrades through the InfinityFree Client Area. More users, More revenue. More revenue, Better services. Better services, More users. I frequently visit the InfinityFree forums to help others out and help generate some revenue for the @Admin. I leave my ad-blocker turned off to help support InfinityFree’s amazing service. I may have gone off-topic, but the point is, advertising other services than InfinityFree hurts InfinityFree. I will say no more.

Suppose you run a shop. One day, staff from a competitor’s shop show up to your store, set themselves up at the entrance of your shop with signs and handing out flyers, harassing your customers to tell them they can get a service that’s “so much better and cheaper at the competitor’s shop”, what would you think of that? Would you be like “well, they have a point, that competitor has a good service too”? Or would you send them away from your property because they are trying to poach your customers?

Please realize that this is not a generic, independent web hosting forum. This is the InfinityFree community support forum. And like literally every business owner ever, I don’t appreciate it when people start using the space I provide to promote their competing offers and try to steal my clients.

If you think that it’s tyranny that business owners don’t want to give space to advertise competitors, that’s your opinion. That’s not going to change my mind, and neither will being sassy about it.

Other free hosting providers exist. Some provide good services too. Some might even provide better services for certain use cases than we do. That doesn’t mean that I must provide space to promote such services.

If you want a place to freely discuss and compare different hosting providers, please find a neutral ground to do so. Like WebHostingTalk.com.

Oh, look at you, Soyjack, the self-appointed white knight of InfinityFree! Here you are, valiantly standing guard at the gates of “Free Hosting Land,” fighting off the evil forces of competition, all while heroically leaving your ad-blocker off. Truly, what a sacrifice.

But hey, don’t worry, your loyalty isn’t lost on anyone! I mean, who else would risk their sanity and bandwidth just to make sure that @Admin keeps their precious ad revenue rolling in? Forget about offering people better choices — you’re clearly here to save the day, one banner ad at a time. You really should get a medal for this level of dedication.

Next time someone mentions a better hosting service, don’t fret — just tell them you’re doing it for the greater good. You’re not just a forum helper; you’re a crusader for InfinityFree, valiantly defending their pockets, one poorly-paid user at a time. Keep up the good work, Soyjack, the white knight — the admins must be proud.

Oh, I see! So now we’re playing the “protect my turf” card, huh? I get it, you’re the shop owner, and everyone else is just an intruder on your precious little corner of the internet. How noble of you to keep the gates locked tight, ensuring no other free hosting service gets the spotlight.

But, let’s be real here. If you’re comparing this to a competitor’s staff showing up at your shop, you’re really just mad because someone pointed out that maybe there’s something better out there — and that’s not something you’re ready to hear. You’re all about “protecting your customers” as long as it means keeping them in your little bubble, right?

I get it, competition can be tough, but instead of throwing a tantrum and trying to shut down anything remotely alternative, how about embracing that feedback and making your service even better? Or is that just too much to ask for when you’re busy playing the role of the “savior” of the free hosting world?

In the end, it’s your platform, your rules. But don’t act like it’s some grand moral high ground. You’re just trying to keep your slice of the pie as big as possible, while really hoping no one notices that there might be other ways to get the same thing… at a better price, with fewer ads.

Friendly advice. On this forum we play nice. We don’t insult each other and we don’t get passive aggressive, and aggressively sarcastic with eachother (except in friendly banter, I’m terrible for being sarcastic in banter)

We’re here to help each other, on a forum dedicated to a specific service.

Go on a dell forum and ask for advice on finding a laptop that’s better than a dell and you’ll be told it’s the wrong forum.

Same here. This is the infinity free forum. We are only going to suggest the infinity free service here. There are forums on the internet that are designed for general web hosting discussion.

–edit–

Admin also does take feedback. I’ve only been here 6 months or so and I’ve seen admin make changes based on feedback

Ah, here comes the white knight to defend the realm of InfinityFree. :shield: Calm down, Soyjack, we get it — you’re just here to keep the peace.

But seriously, no need to act like we’re all supposed to worship InfinityFree like it’s the holy grail of hosting. If you’re so eager to protect it, maybe it’s time to get some armor. Maybe throw in some ads in your own forums to help with that revenue? :man_shrugging:

It’s all good though — friendly banter, right?

Now you’re just making wild assumptions and broad statements that go far beyond that rule.

To make a few things clear:

There is no ban on criticism. I know our hosting isn’t perfect and I don’t pretend that it is. I am always open to suggestions on how to make the service better (although in many cases the suggestions are not actionable for me).

But that’s not an invitation to say things like “InfinityFree doesn’t have X, unlike provider Y, you should really try it”.

I am also all for fair competition. But, in my opinion, fair competition doesn’t include actively approaching the customers of your competitor to make them switch. And it doesn’t require supporting competitors in approaching your customers.

I am not pretending that I am on any kind of moral high ground. I am running a business here, and like any business owner, I want my business to be big and successful. I don’t run a charity and I don’t run an independent comparison site. I try to be fair and honest, so I’m not going to lie about the downsides of our services or censor legitimate criticism. But I also don’t think it’s my responsibility to provide a pedestal for those whose interests conflict with mine.

Ultimately, this is the InfinityFree forum. If you’re looking for a place to freely discuss and compare providers, there are more suitable places to go.

I never said we should all worship infinity free.

What I’m saying is be nice to ther members of the forum. Apart from admin (who owns infinity free) nome of us work for infinity free.

That and if you go to any forum for a specific service they will have rules not to promote their competition. That’s just basic etiquette.

Ah yes, the InfinityFree Paladin™ has arrived :crossed_swords::shield:
Defender of uptime, vanquisher of criticism, protector of the sacred No Competitor Mentions Allowed doctrine. :castle:

Bro out here typing essays like it’s the Magna Carta of free hosting :skull:
I run a business, not a charity” — okay Jeff Bezos, relax :briefcase::money_with_wings:

Nobody said your hosting was trash, but when the FTP ghosts you harder than your ex, and videos don’t load, people will compare. That’s not betrayal, that’s called reality, my dude. :man_shrugging:

Meanwhile, this whole post reads like:
:man_elf: “H-hey guys, c-can we not s-say other hosts are better?”
Followed by a 3-paragraph copium scroll:

:man_elf: “H-hey guys, InfinityFree is totally fair and open to criticism… b-but not that kind of criticism :anxious_face_with_sweat::sweat_droplets:
Bro really said: “I’m not on a moral high ground” while climbing a 10-story soapbox :sob::loudspeaker:

:briefcase: “I’m running a business, not a charity.”
True — a business where your videos don’t load, FTP takes coffee breaks, and you get rate-limited for breathing wrong. :hot_beverage::prohibited::open_file_folder:
But go off, CEO of Copium :skull:

Every time someone mentions another host: :bust_in_silhouette:: “Hey, maybe X provider does this better—”
:man_judge: InfinityFree: “BANISH THEM. They have spoken the forbidden name.” :prohibited::ogre:
Bro’s running this forum like it’s Hogwarts and you just whispered Voldemort. :high_voltage::scroll:

And don’t get me started on the vibe:
:rainbow: constructive feedback? Nah.
:skull: competitive discussion? Double nah.
Just white knight soyjack energy:
 “As a loyal user since 2008, I too believe videos are unnecessary and overrated anyway.”

It’s actually against the tos to host videos for streaming on infinity free. Just host them on YouTube and embed them on your site.

That’s actually an issue on iFastNet’s side. They are the ones who provide the infrastructure.

Have you provided constructive feedback? Because so far it looks like you’ve just got an axe to grind and this forum is today’s unlucky target.

Go to any other businesses forum and start promoting a competitor and see what they say. Go on, I’ll wait

I am not here to say infinity free is perfect. For my needs at the moment it is. But I respect that it’s not for everyone.

If you want an online WYSIWYG site builder, there may be better options (I’m not a fan of site.pro) but for hosting a few dynamic pages, it’s pretty good.

Just remember, as with everything, you get what you pay for. In the case of infinity free, you pay through adverts in the forum and client area. So dont expect the same product as if you were paying $25 per month (i don’t actually know.what the going rate is ATM)

“Videos don’t load.”
:skull: Bro really hit us with “Just upload to YouTube” like we’re all out here running vlogs from 2007.
So wait — your “free web hosting” is allergic to actual web content now? Next you’re gonna say PNGs cause server anxiety :sob:

“It’s against the TOS to host videos for streaming…”
So you’re basically saying:
:prohibited: No video
:prohibited: No audio
:prohibited: No fun
Just serve some raw HTML and get out :receipt::dashing_away:
That’s not hosting — that’s a hostage situation :nail_polish:

“FTP takes coffee breaks”
Yeah and the coffee break lasts longer than most modern relationships :hot_beverage::broken_heart:
Blaming iFastNet like you didn’t choose that infrastructure?
“My car won’t start but that’s Ford’s fault — I just drive it.” :sob::sob:

“Constructive feedback?”
Yes. We tried. And your answer was always:
:loudspeaker: “Use YouTube!”
:loudspeaker: “Go somewhere else!”
:loudspeaker: “You’re not providing value to the forum!”
This isn’t feedback — it’s a gaslighting speedrun :dashing_away::brain::fire:

“Promote a competitor on any other business forum…”
Oh so it’s “fair competition” but only if we whisper it through a VPN from a Discord server in a forest at midnight :detective::evergreen_tree:
Meanwhile y’all out here saying “we’re open to feedback” like it’s not a trap card. :flower_playing_cards:

“You get what you pay for.”
Fair point. But don’t pretend we’re walking into a Michelin-starred restaurant.
We’re in the dollar menu zone :hamburger:— but they ran out of ketchup, buns, AND fries, and still mad when people ask for a napkin.

Look, nobody’s asking for AWS tier features, we’re just asking that basic things don’t explode. You can’t promote a “free host” that’s allergic to hosting and then get defensive when someone notices.

Let people vent. Let people compare. And maybe — just maybe — focus more on fixing things than flexing your moral compass :compass:

@programmer939239093 nobody is forcing you to use the infinityfree service but if you choose to do so then you also choose to follow the TOS so there is no point complaining that it doesn’t do this or doesn’t do that after the fact

All services have issue from time to time and I personally find that what infinityfree offers as a free service is quite amazing

Again. Not my service. I’m just another user here, who’s spent some time learning the rules, and learning my way around the system trying to help others do the same.

If infinity free offers a service that’s suitable for you, then great. As a community we can help answer any questions you have.

If not then I wish you the best of luck in your search
