oh infinity free doesn’t support node js it does but you have to buy their premium hosting at ifast net (Ifast net is the provider that infinity free uses to host everyone’s websites) but I use a cheap 5$ vps to host my websites

I cant say the provider I use since advertising 3rd party services

contabo but you could go with any provider you like, like hetzner, oracle cloud free tier or any other one I would recommend you going for Cloud VPS 4C at contabo since its cheap and fast for only 5$/month note the prices are in EUR, USD and GBP

Note, you must know how to use a terminal and using ssh to install a control panel free or paid and you must check what operating system that control panel or any other software you would like to install on the vps if not go with shared hosting like hostinger or webhostmost or just find tutorials on how to setup a control panel on the vps

benefits of a vps are its cheap and better than shared hosting downside is stuff might break and you need to know how to manage the server yourself

does it have to be on all the time is it like on your computer? or like its on while your computers running or?

you can also self host your websites for free but you can either use a vm (virtual machine which is free) but your computer has to stay on 24/7 if your shutdown your computer then the virtual machine will stop and all your websites will go offline that is if you self host it

But with a vps (virtual private server) you don’t need to do anything because it’s online 24/7 and the provider takes care of the hosting

Oh on a vps you can host more stuff not just php and MySQL you can host node js and python apps

wow that is really cool so is there like a guide online you said contabo, hetzner oracle cloud cloud vps 4c at contabo? so how much is it per year how do you get a domain for it

I recommend you going for contabo CLOUD VPS 4C Since it’s almost 5$ per month in usd for 1 year at contabo is like almost 60$

And here are some domain registrars I recommend you going for if you want to save money

Porkbun - cheap domains for the first year .com is like 11$
Cloudflare - cheap no first year discounts but a .com is like 11$/ year
Note cloudflare does not support name servers
If you need name servers go with porkbun

Infinityfree is the best for me because I’m too lazy to move my website to another hosting no matter how cool they are.

I originally hosted my websites on GitHub Pages, then I tried to look for free domains, then I seen InfinityFree appear as an option. Looked into it, and found that it was a better option than anything for me. Signed up, and now I’m here.

I’m glad InfinityFree exists.

I had tried many free hosting companies but none were as feature rich or offered as much storage as infinityfree

I joined in 2019 and have been very happy with the amazing service and helpful community
