Website times out on Iranian internet – please check server connectivity

Error Message

Hello there,

I need help troubleshooting an access problem with my website.

Website: https://tavanpardazautomation.ir/
Hosting IP address: 185.27.134.34
Hosting platform: InfinityFree
CMS: WordPress
Internet provider affected: Irancell (Iran)

Problem description

My website works when I access it through a VPN, but it does not load normally on my Irancell internet connection without a VPN.

I tested the connection using Windows PowerShell. Here are the results:

1. DNS resolution

The domain resolves to the expected IP address:

185.27.134.34

2. HTTPS connection (port 443)

Command:

curl.exe -4 -v --connect-timeout 10 --max-time 15 https://tavanpardazautomation.ir/

Result:

Connection timed out after 10015 milliseconds

3. HTTP connection (port 80)

The TCP connection succeeds, but the server does not send an HTTP response. The request times out after 12 seconds with zero bytes received.

4. TCP port 443 test

Command:

Test-NetConnection 185.27.134.34 -Port 443 -InformationLevel Detailed

Result:

TcpTestSucceeded: True

5. External connectivity test

I also tested the website using Check-Host. Most locations outside Iran returned HTTP 200 OK. Several locations in Iran, including Isfahan, Qom, Shiraz, and Tehran, also returned 200 OK, but one Tehran test timed out.

Please help me investigate

Could you please check:

  1. Whether there are any connection restrictions, firewall rules, or other issues affecting my hosting account or server IP.
  2. Whether HTTP and HTTPS requests from Iranian internet providers, especially Irancell, are reaching your server.
  3. Whether your server logs show any requests or connection attempts from my connection during the failed tests.
  4. Whether you can identify any server-side or network-routing issue that could explain why the connection times out.

I understand that the issue may also be related to my ISP or network routing, so I would appreciate your help in identifying where the connection is failing.

I have not reinstalled WordPress or changed my DNS settings because I want to identify the actual cause first.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,
Tavan Pardaz Automation

Other Information

My website, https://tavanpardazautomation.ir/, is hosted on InfinityFree and runs WordPress.

The website works when accessed through a VPN, but it times out without a VPN on my Irancell internet connection in Iran.

The domain resolves to 185.27.134.34. HTTPS requests time out, and HTTP connects but does not return a response. External checks show HTTP 200 OK from most locations, including several locations in Iran.

Please help me determine whether this is a server-side issue or a network-routing problem. I have not changed DNS settings or reinstalled WordPress.

Welcome to the InfinityFree community forum! Good to have you here.

  • Most people answering here are volunteers. They’re often the fastest source of help. Admin (the only staff member) checks in about once a day for issues on our end.
  • Volunteers can’t see your account or website. Share what you actually see, like error messages and what happens when you try something. That’s more useful than your theory of what’s wrong.
  • AI tools often get InfinityFree wrong. If a volunteer’s advice differs from what an AI told you, please try the volunteer’s suggestion first.
  • Solving an issue is a joint effort. Try the suggestions you get and report back what happened.

Beep boop, I’m a bot! I dug through the forum to get you started. I sometimes get things wrong though, so do with this what you will until a human has a look.

I can’t see server logs or firewall rules, so I can’t answer your four questions directly. Someone from our staff would need to look at the server side.

From what you’ve posted, I can say that I found nothing saying InfinityFree blocks traffic by country or by ISP. A staff answer on another topic about a region-dependent failure says this:

Your own tests also point away from a block on your account. Most locations worldwide return 200, and several Iranian locations do too. A TCP connection that opens and then gets no response only from your Irancell line could be a routing or filtering problem between that ISP and the server. I can’t confirm that from here, so treat it as a guess.

Two things would help tell the cases apart:

  • Run tracert 185.27.134.34 from the Irancell connection and post the output. This shows where the packets stop.
  • Try the same device on a different Iranian ISP, for example a home line instead of Irancell mobile, or the other way round. If it loads there, the problem is on the Irancell path and not with your site or account.

Hello,

I have completed the requested tests without a VPN on my Irancell connection.

  • DNS resolves correctly to 185.27.134.34.

  • Test-NetConnection tavanpardazautomation.ir -Port 443 returns TcpTestSucceeded: True.

  • HTTPS requests using curl time out before the connection is established.

  • HTTP connects to port 80, but no HTTP response is received within 12 seconds.

  • Traceroute reaches 10.222.23.193 at hop 3, after which all hops time out.

The website works through a VPN, but I cannot access it normally through this connection.

Could an administrator please check whether my public IP address or the relevant network range is being blocked by the hosting security system?

Thank you.

I responded to another topic earlier today from someone else from Iran who also had trouble accessing their website, which quite clearly seemed like a network level block on their end.

Your traceroute ending early, and on a private IP address, also seems to suggest the same.

Thank you for your help and suggestions.

I confirmed that https://tavanpardazautomation.ir/ loads without a VPN over Hamrah Aval (MCI), but times out over Irancell. This points to a connectivity or routing issue specific to the Irancell connection, although the exact cause has not been confirmed.

Thank you again for your assistance!
