Hello there,
I am having trouble connecting the above mentioned domain to a custom domain which I bought through Strato.
I understand that I have to add infinityfree’s DNS name server to the domain-provider (in this case Strato). If I do so, I get the following error message from Strato: “An error has occurred. The specified name server is not responsible for this domain.”
Does anyone know, why this is happening and what to do about it?
I already have another domain on that same infinity account using a custom domain from another provider (in this case IONOS) as well and there it was no problem setting up the name-servers.
Hope anyone can help.
Kind regards,
Andrea

Since you have posted vague question, I can only refer you to these
If you currently have a website with another hosting provider, you may be wondering: how do I transfer everything to InfinityFree?
To answer that question, it’s important to note the difference between a Hosting Account and a Domain Registration.
A Domain Registration gives you the ownership of a particular domain name (e.g. example.com ), and enables you to make services like websites and email addresses available on that domain. However, a domain registration itself does not provide those se…
While a free subdomain is a great way to get started, a website looks a lot more professional with a custom domain name. Fortunately, you can register your own domain name with an external company (like Spaceship ) and use it on InfinityFree.
Adding your domain name to your hosting account

When you try to point your domain to InfinityFree’s nameservers (ns1.infinityfree.com and ns2.infinityfree.com ), your registrar might refuse the change with error messages like:

Before adding your domain name to your hosting account, you need to point it to the InfinityFree nameservers. This guide will walk you through the necessary steps using Spaceship as an example. Keep in mind that different domain registrars have different interfaces, so the exact steps may vary.
Step 0: Find the correct nameservers
Before changing your nameservers, you need to determine which nameservers to use. The appropriate nameservers depend on your account type:

I don’t think you can host your .de domain with us.
Even though you can point the domain name to our servers, our servers don’t know which account and website that domain name is related to. To do that, you need to add the domain to a hosting account. And to add the domain to a hosting account, you must change the nameservers of your domain to point to our servers first.
The .de extension is specifically listed in our article about “annoying domain extensions which are really picky about names…

Hello there and thank you for your reply.
The domain I want to use for the above mentioned website is a .com - domain, just the domain-provider is German. And you said “Even though you can point the domain name to our servers” - that’S exactly the problem. I CAN NOT point the domain name to infinity free’s server, because I get an error when I add the DNS names to the domain provider. And I was wondering If there is any other way, to connect my custom domain to the infinity free webspace?
Kind regards,
Andrea

You can transfer your domain to someone else, and set your nameservers on a provider that allows it.
