This site can’t provide a secure connection

Hi, I’m still newish to hosting sites etc I have some experience with HTML etc I’m a student. But I had a site in the past and that worked perfectly.
I deleted that and created a new one https://pawsomewalks.rf.gd/
But every time I try and access it I get the following message

" This site can’t provide a secure connection

pawsomewalks.rf.gd sent an invalid response.

[Try running Windows Network Diagnostics](javascript:diagnoseErrors()).

ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR"

I thought I would give it a few days and see if anything changed. Strangely, it did work briefly the other day but has now returned to the following message.

You need an SSL certificate to use HTTPS

Thanks for your reply - I did read that but never did it with my other site and that worked without it. I’ll give it ago and report back

Your site still works just fine without SSL. But then you need to access it without SSL.

If you try to view your website as http://pawsomewalks.rf.gd/, it will work fine, at least from here.

If you try to access it as https://pawsomewalks.rf.gd/ (that’s with https:// instead of http://), your browser will try to make an SSL connection, which is not possible without an SSL certificate.

If you don’t want to use SSL, that’s perfectly fine, just make sure to always use the URL with http:// and not https://, and beware of tools that try to auto-complete your website URL with https://.

Thank you for your Reply  - I have requested a Certificate anyway as I think it would be useful - Hopefully I’ve done it right.

I have another question - maybe I should start another thread?

  • But there is an Issue with the image “new 1.jpg” On the File Manager it does appear to be there correctly but on the page, it doesn’t display correctly - Also when inspecting the page the image is corrupt? or just blank etc

Using spaces in file names in web hosting is generally ill advised. Try renaming it to exclude the space, such as “new1.jpg” or “new_1.jpg”.

Thank you for your Reply - I have changed it to one word and its not displaying - I’ll leave it 24hours
Here is a direct link http://pawsomewalks.rf.gd/img/new1.jpg
Strangely under File Manager it always seems to be correct as I can Download it etc The file is 146kb - I thought maybe this is the problem but I think I’ve had a bigger file in the past.

Could you please double check that the name of the file in the file manager matches the URL exactly? Please also pay attention to capital letters, because web hosting servers are almost always case sensitive.

It’s working now :+1:

Hi, it looks like my SSL certificate hasn’t been approved yet - is that normal or have or made a mistake etc ?

Nobody needs to approve any SSL certificate. If the status is currently Pending, then it will remain Pending until you make it not Pending anymore.

Please go to the certificate in the client area. Does it say the correct DNS records have been set up? If no, please do that first. If yes, you can click the Request Certificate to actually get the certificate.
