[RESOLVED] No HTTPS for some free subdomains - 2025-07-30
IMPACT: HTTPS connections to some free subdomains does not work, websites show an ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR or similar error message.
AFFECTED: Some website IPs are affected, but not all. The issue affects free subdomains regardless of domain used. Effects on custom domains are not known at this time.
STATUS: Resolved
NEXT UPDATE: The issue is resolved.

The issues were caused by problems during the SSL certificate renewal for free subdomains. Most certificates have now been renewed successfully. Fixes have been implemented to prevent similar issues during future renewals.
Is this related somehow with not able to add an SSL to my newly added domain (self-owned)? Clicking the “Add SSL Certificate +” dropdown but nothing happens..

Your issue ticks none of the boxes suggesting that it might be related other than “it’s also related to SSL”. So you can safely assume that it’s not related.
Edit: Didn’t work but I updated wordpress in softaculous then updated it and it worked. I don’t really know what fixed it tbh because it could have been the domain change.
