Continuing the discussion from Are You Guys On Twitter:

I did do, but the Clique closed it, they never liked the truth I was sending them… The post should be on the forum somewhere where I specifically asked for your help, but the clique hijacked it and then locked it… Trying to tell me it was my own fault thatyour updates broke our sites like some gaslighter…

Paul

I see very little evidence that they can help anybody they don’t include in their clique first, to be honest Admin… The customer service here it is what it is, although yes I accept it is a free plan… I find it strange that you guys don’t even offer paid hosting yourselves yet are always trying to do little things like this update that breaks our sites in order for us to revert back to a working site why should people pay to repair the damage your updates have done?? Please clarify that as it makes no sense to me why you or anybody else for that matter would act like that??

Well, if the servers are not upgraded, they are gonna get outdated and being insecure, with many websites have vulnerabilities, they will be hacked, do you want that? No!

PHP 8 deprecates some features, and add some new features. If an issue is available in the new update but is broken unintentionally, it should be solved eventually.

You don’t have to? InfinityFree is 100% free.
Even on other hosting providers, new upgrades always have a chance to break old stuff, and it is your responsibility to keep your code compatible with the platform.

I do, because I am seemingly unable to revert back to the PHP our site works fine on, I seem tied in to the version that has broken our sites… I have no problem with updates when done correctly, but this update has broken half of our sites… They were working fine on Friday… The errors are in the thread the Clique hijacked and locked… If I could get all the sites back on PHP 7 they would work fine as they did before this lousy update…

Paul

This is false, clearly he said that outdated PHP versions do not contain security vulnerabilities and bugs.

Whats more, you are going to break the half you didn’t break on this time in the future, I know you are… How can I prevent that (I have no inclination to update anything on them really, they asre legacy sites for viewing and reference)

Ideally you guys would just leave them alone as they are, working fine, but no, people have to meddle don’t they…

Paul

I said that our sites worked well on it… There are bugs on every site they will never be eradicated… The same people will be saying PHP 8 has bugs in it in a years time, where does it stop?? Rich programmers that is where… The sites were fine as they were… You guys broke them,it is not on our team of highly dedicated volunteers to waste time maintaining working sites…

You use outdated Joomla and throw tantrum when it breaks, nothing we can do.

This will be your responsibility to update your code to keep it running.

PHP 7 is old and outdated, updating it is better, which includes new feature and security patches.

Both on new and outdated versions, you never know if there are any vulnerabilities, but the outdated vesions are not maintained, which means any issues may not be fixed, with the new updates, new patches were made, effectively increasing website security

That’s not the hosting provider’s fault, the host shall keep everything updated and secured.
It will be your responsibility to keep your code updated.

Why not? You code your site, so you can patch your own bugs.

There will always be bugs being found, and being patched, and more being found, and more being patched, it never stops. However, newer updates has more bugs patched.

Well, if your developers are not working on the site, you are screwed, or you can work on it yourself.

Thank you for the insight but I was being sarcastic. (Except for that OP literally said that php doesnt contain bugs)

Please keep discussion regarding your site being broken there. Thank you.
