Ive been trying to install and update wordpress on francisrodgers.com However, none of the changes I make are been written. For example, and update to wordpress, removal of plugins or themes, changes to site name etc. It saves the changes and gives relevant success messages. But when refreshed, everything is back exactly as it was.
To check the problem further, I went to the other site. irishfreemaninfo.com The same thing is happening there.
Is there some readonly setting somewhere that I am unaware of. It seems that would be the issue as its across both sites. Perhaps in the root folder or something that is preventing any changes being saved.
Ive tried resetting the browser cache ets. Also tried different browsers. Normally I use Opera but I also tried it in Chrome and Edge.
I checked your site and it doesn’t appear to be hosted with us at all. The domain is linked to an account, but it’s empty, there are no WordPress files on it.
Please check your DNS settings in Cloudflare to check where your site is actually hosted, and then check this issue with the hosting provider who is actually hosting your website.

For example, and update to wordpress, removal of plugins or themes, changes to site name etc. It’s now just giving error messages. But when refreshed, everything is back exactly as it was.
Example 1: Removal of “Hello Dolly” plugin, just gives “Deletion failed: -1”
Example 2: Removal of “Twenty Twenty Three” theme. Just goes through the motions and says success, but when refreshed, it returns as though it was never removed. But in the softaculus control panel outside of the site, I can see it has been removed.
Example 3: Changing the site name in wp settings and pressing “Save” Just gives me " The link you followed has expired. [Please try again.]

Any help would be appreciated.
I raised this issue before. Some suggestions provided were to ensure wordpress was installed correctly. I’ve installed wordpress on several occasions and know and understand the process. Additional to this, I used the softaculus installer which is completely automated and never had a problem. Finally I have tried all suggestions in the previous posting of this. To no avail.
Hey! It sounds like the errors you’re getting could be related to file permissions, or a caching issue. Take a look below and maybe they could help>
Check if the files and directories in your WordPress installation have the correct permissions. It’s normally be set to 755 for directories and 644 for files. Invalid or incorrect permissions could prevent WordPress from writing changes.
Sometimes, plugins can cause issues with saving changes. Try turning off all your plugins and then see if you can make changes. If it works, you can re-enable plugins one by one to identify the plugin that’s stopping you from saving. Although you did mention not being able to switch themes, there could possibly be another way?
Try sswitching to a default WordPress theme, like Twenty Twenty One, and see if the issue still occurs. If it doesnt, it could be a problem with your current theme.
You could maybe double-check that you’re clearing both your browser cache and any caching plugins you might’ve installed on your WordPress site. Caches can sometimes keep old versions of pages, which prevents changes from showing up immediately.
If none of these work, then try contacting InfinityFree Support or WordPress Support.
If none of my tips work, let me know, so I can learn from my mistakes.
I only have 1 plugin. It’s inactive, but when I try to delete it I get -1, failed.
I only have the 2 default themes. When I try to change to the other one. It doesnt work.
Im using 2 different computers, and 2 browsers. 1 has firefox, the other has chrome. Ive checked the cloudflare to see if it’s caching, or has any locks, but it doesnt.
Its a completely new site, just insalled from softaculus installer. However I also try to make changes on another site. Same problem.
I dont understand this. But I appreicate your help. Thank you.
It is hosted with you using your free hosting package. There was no wordpress installation on it. But I have done a fresh install. I am running for elections. There is a whole social media campaign linked to my site. But I cant build my site.
I can completely delete the wordpress site and reinstall. From the softaculus admin, I can make changes. But nothing is being saved from within the admin panel of my site. So I cant build anything on it.
Time is of the essance for the next campaign. I need my site working asap. I’d really appreaciate anything you can do to help. Otherwise I have to move to another host.
