So i was looking for some option inside VistaPanel to change the php version and acidentally click on Softaculous option and i just quickly close it but suddently i saw the Softaculous url:
the 2083 port and cpsess caught my eye, and when i click on the Logout button, it redirect me to a cPanel login screen:
First is the reset password option is gone and the Privacy Policy option is gone, also if i login back to that Softaculous cPanel page, it’s just redirect me back to Softaculous, seems like the normal cPanel dashboard has been deleted and replaced with Softaculous page. But this is the Softaculous page, not the VistaPanel page
And i keep digging into this rabbit hole and i found out that the VistaPanel is actually looks like cPanel Paper Lantern theme (sorry my cPanel hosting doesnt have an option to change the theme, i want to change to that theme so that you can see the theme, i think new version of cPanel isn’t include that old theme anymore, but i can promise with you that the Paper Lantern theme in cPanel definally looks like VistaPanel dashboard, but i do have a reseller, i think it have an option to change the theme for the package but im too lazy for this random post that cost me time and eletric money)
Well, thats all i want to say. Yeah i think VistaPanel is cPanel but got modified to be cheap and crappy.
I didn’t design the setup so I can only speculate, but I think that’s because Softaculous didn’t have any way to integrate with custom control panels at the time. So in order to make Softaculous work with VistaPanel, iFastNet put cPanel in between to act as an integration layer.
And that’s all there is in terms of cPanel for free hosting.
VistaPanel itself is a completely custom panel that only shares the design from cPanel, but doesn’t use any of the functionality. At first sight, they look similar, but if you’ve ever used cPanel, you’ll quickly realize that nothing in VistaPanel works the same way as it does in cPanel.
Please also consider that cPanel currently charges $0.45 per account in license fees alone. That’s an ASTRONOMICALLY high fee for a free hosting account. That’s over 3 million USD per year for InfinityFree. You can develop a custom panel for much, much less than that.
There is a way, but there’s a very practical reason (just as the same reason for not using actual cPanel) for free hosting to not use it: unlike regular Softaculous integrations which just costs you $12 per year per server, custom panel integration is billed on a per account basis. (Namely $0.1 per month per account.)
