I’m currently using your free hosting service and I truly appreciate the platform you’ve made available. I would like to ask for your clarification on something important:
Is it safe and reliable to use InfinityFree’s free hosting for storing important website data for a long period of time?
I understand it’s a free service and may have limitations, but I’d like to know how stable and secure it is for long-term projects. Also, are there any risks of data loss, account suspension, or deletion due to inactivity or other policies I should be aware of?
Your insights will help me make an informed decision about using your service in the future.
Welcome to the forum. You’d have been better making your own thread to ask your questions, rather than jumping on an existing thread.
But to answer your questions,:
Infinity free is suitable for hosting a website, but don’t treat it as cloud file storage. As long as your site doesn’t breach the TOS and it stays active (5+ visits per month) its reliable and as secure as any online host.
I split your post to a separate topic because it’s not really related to the ongoing outage. Although I can see why it’s a bad look.
But like @dan3008 said: we provide a free website hosting service, not a file or backup hosting service.
Keeping your website safe is important to us, and we do take reasonable precaution to protect the integrity of your data, but our service is designed primarily to host websites quickly, not be secure long time data storage.
So if you are looking to host a website for free, then our hosting is a good fit. But if the data is important to you, I can’t stress how important it is that you regularly make your own backups and store them somewhere safe.
If you’re just looking for cold storage of files or other data, there are other services much more suitable for that.
@dan3008@Admin Thank you for your previous answers and the great service you provide.
I’m currently using InfinityFree to host a Laravel project, which includes both web files and a MySQL database.
My question is specifically about the MySQL database: If my account is ever suspended, deactivated, or shut down (due to inactivity or other reasons), will I still be able to access or recover the MySQL database?
Or would the database be permanently deleted right away?
I understand that the hosting is free and has limits, but I want to be prepared in case something happens to the account. The database holds important data, and I’d like to know what the recovery options are in such cases.
Not when it’s suspended. The data won’t be deleted right alway, but if you don’t take any actions, it will eventually be deleted.
If the account is suspended for abuse, then you must submit a support ticket for account reactivation or a backup.
If the account is suspended for hitting the limit, then you can only wait the 24 hours. The data will remain intact in this case.
If the account is deactivated due to inactivity, then you should click the reactivate button. The data will also remain intact.
The best thing you can do here (or really on any provider in existence) is to take regular backups. Then instead of losing all your data, you would only lose the last couple of days if you take weekly backups (make it a part of your Monday/Friday routine or something, if your DB is small, you might be able to get away with a PHP / file storage service upload script)
