InfinityFree is almost perfect! would be perfect with a non-JS compatible site feature ;)

hello

by browsing a bit on the web, i saw your webhoster.
at the beginning, it was a great idea, few GB of storage, a sub-domain, a ftp access, well : perfect to host few tiny websites, using especialyl hugo-designed to kick-off javascript.
so i well took half an hour to create the account, create a hugo-based website, then upload it on FTP…
until here, everything works perfect !

until, even with my files uploaded and website “looking good” on FF/chromium-based ones, I checked that naturally, on lynx or dillo, it would work…

unfortunately, I admit to be a bit disappointed by the fact that javascript becomes over king-of-the-internet than money is king-of-the world.

on my daily life, i use javascript-compatible browser only (and only) to complete the form required (and it take 30 secs) to connect/validate the connection on wifi opened hotspots (coffees, hotels…) to benefit free wifi internet (i hate cellular data), then i only have to use internet as it was designed for : few web (dillo) browsing, eg wikipedia, 68k news, 512kclub etc… and rss/email client to check them, with a specific software. Few months Im javascript-vaccinated and it’s really pleasant for me, and thanksfully my hardware (laptop or postmarketos phone)

I have to admit i started to enjoy your initiative : european, ftp access, easy to use… just the “disable javascript” feature box to uncheck in the panel would be perfect, for dillo/nonJS users…

here is, why i just regret no continue anymore with what i was thinking a lightweight and non-JS compatible hoster…

ps : i join this users here, in it’s “non-JS” usuals, which are legitimate, even if we are the “1%” remaining, we will still remain nonJS for years

Hi there, welcome to the community! Javascript is necessary for your web browser to pass the Anti-bot security system. It helps to ensure that providing free hosting on as large a scale as InfinityFree does remains feasible.

I’d also like to add that the user you’re referring to is fine with Javascript, it’s cookies they have a problem with.

If you really detest Javascript for whatever reason, you do you. But as the Admin points out in the same thread, not using Javascript comes with acknowledgement that your experience on the World Wide Web will be pretty limited.

So while I’m sorry that InfinityFree’s service isn’t useful to you, it also won’t change anything about itself to commendate such a small amount of users.

More like 0.001% I think.

Besides that, I second everything that @EdwardHamHam said. Yes, it’s a bummer if you are designing a website for non-JS or terminal based browsers. But that’s a really small niche audience. And the benefit of security challenges is just too big to not use them.
