Domain 000.pe Suspended by Registry

@Admin I don’t wan’t to bother, but the 000.pe is selectable in the cPanel.

Which might explain why people can still make 000.pe sub-domains.

Don’t know if you can change that.

000.pe subdomain option has been removed from https://dash.infinityfree.com/accounts/#############/domains/create

However I can confirm that it is still possible to add a 000.pe subdomain from cPanel

There is no way to practically remove subdomain options from the control panel. It is removed from the client area because it’s a single, convenient switch.

wow it’s been like almost a month since that domain is suspended

Sadly, that is true. Seemingly, the 000.pe registry isn’t giving a dang about getting the domain online.

Query of 000.pe

Still hoping for the Registry [or Namecheap, IDK] to restore access to the site. Still hoping InfinityFree doesn’t lose this domain.

:worried:  :worried:

If 000.pe doesnt come back I might lose 500 bucks approximately :slightly_smiling_face:

It is indeed the registry for the .pe extension. They supersede the registrar, so Namecheap is almost as helpless as InfinityFree in this instance.

Is this recommendation still standing? It’s taking a long time now…

I don’t know if this is helpful or not but maybe if everyone complains to the registry here Ponte en contacto con nosotros asking to remove suspension on 000.pe, then it could do something while we wait

I think this may work, but I don’t know how their support team works. I did send a request, asking as a user to unsuspend the domain, but I don’t know if it will make it.

I received an email back, and this is what they said [I mostly translated this into English]

Dear customer,

We cordially greet you and inform you that the mentioned domain is not registered with our entity, as detailed in the attached image.

If you have any inquiries about this domain, we suggest you contact the corresponding domain provider directly.

Without further ado, we remain at your disposal.

I’m guessing they can’t deal with it, but 1API GmbH can?

EDIT: Tried contacting them, but their support site is down.

You received an email back? Wow, I filled in that contact form too, but I didn’t get a reply.

I’m guessing they don’t want to deal with it. Any support requests for domains should go through registrars, and not be sent directly to the registry.

1API is a brand of CentralNIC, which is a huge company in domain names, and it’s likely that Namecheap is reselling from them and not a direct registrar. So it’s probably an extra layer between Namecheap and the registry that could be distorting the process.

It has taken so long, I’m approaching a point where the domain just has to be written off as lost. So I wouldn’t blame you if you start migrating to a different domain name by name.

I had it goto my Junk box [I don’t know why, but almost everything goes there]. With the help of my friend, who is bilingual, I had him write a support ticket in spanish.

If the registry owns the .pe domain, why don’t they want to deal with it?

NO! Just hold on for another month, eventually something will happen! If many people who prefer the 000.pe domain fight for it by going to the registry [or registrars] and “blowing up” [In my terms, it means “To fill something up past it’s limits”] support inboxes, there must be a breakthrough.

While I don’t use 000.pe, I’m helping along.

EDIT: Found 1API’s Email, and I just sent a request as a user of the domain. I got the general “Thanks for contacting, our support team will soon reply” email. Waiting for more information.

They don’t “own” the .pe extension. .pe is the country code TLD for Peru, but some governments place the management of their country code domains into the hands of private companies who already have the infrastructure to deal with it. This effectively makes that company the registry, rather than the government (though the government is allowed to pull control of the TLD from them if it becomes necessary for whatever reason. It depends on the specific terms of the contract between both entities). Sometimes that responsibility will go to a government-owned organization directly, but it all depends on how that specific nation wants to deal with it.
The reason the registry doesn’t want to deal with direct support requests is because that “breaks the process” as it were. Most registries want support requests to come from the registrar, who takes the support request from whatever customer holds that domain name. Most domain registries don’t even make it an option for customers to contact them directly.

I personally doubt that. The registry has its rules, and I don’t think it’d cave because a bunch of people who aren’t even the registrant of the domain name in question are demanding they unsuspend a domain. And again, the registry supersedes the registrar; all the registrar can do is either put the customer in touch with the registry or pass along their message. So complaining to them, even in bulk, isn’t going to help.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not on the registry’s side. This entire situation is ridiculous and overbearing on their part. I’m just pointing out that hounding them with support requests probably won’t do anything.

Also, considering how willing they were to suspend the domain after a single abuse report, and how hard they’ve dropped the ball in dealing with the aftermath… I agree with the admin that it might be best to have the 000.pe domain phased out. I said earlier that this situation is a risk with any free subdomain, and that’s still true. But while various free subdomain options InfinityFree offers have been suspended before, none of the others were ever out of action for this long.

I would not expect nothing less, especially if it was a partially bad one. Remember that most websites have their own domain, if you came across a huge phishing scam on phishingscam.tld, and you contacted the TLD registry about it, you would want it taken down right away, not after an another 10 abuse reports and a 5 month investigation.

Free subdomains have the noisy neighbor effect, and unless you can make a deal with the registry and registrar so they understand the use of your domain (possible, but not easy), one truthful abuse report is all that should be needed to take down a domain.

Now it should be a lot faster and easier to restore one taken down for a resolved issue, but that’s an entirely different problem.

The 1API support site errors out.

It’s been over a month that website is down due to issue with 000.pe domain and it seems matter is not going to resolve soon. In such case, I request a new domain name be assigned at backend to replace 000.pe for the affected websites. As for me, I am fine with any simple and generic domain, at least that will help us to access our website.

Regards!
