Concerns after linking my custom domain through a CNAME Record, and using Cloudflare's nameservers

Hey there InfinityFree,
I just linked my custom domain to InfinityFree using CNAME Records, and I kept my nameservers as Cloudflare ones because I want insights.

But in my InfinityFree dashboard, I see that error in the image I have attached, although it shows it is OK, but it shows my nameservers, my site’s IP Addresses, and a cross next to them, that’s why I’m concerned.

This is what happened so far when I tried to visit my site

  1. It redirected me to the GoDaddy page (since my registrar is GoDaddy)
  2. After some time, when I tried again, it redirected me to a “/lander” page
  3. Then it showed “Unable to access this webpage” which appears to be normal since I just linked this domain to my account
  4. It shows the “/lander” page again

Is this all normal and will fix by waiting, or I need to take some actions? Especially from those cross marks

Welcome back!

CNAME records help you add your domain to your hosting account, but they do not connect your domain to it. You will need to add A records in the Cloudflare dashboard, pointing to your website’s IP. Please read this article for a detailed tutorial:

Thank you for your reply, but in my case, it shows the cross icon next to multiple IP Addresses. Do I need to add DNS records for all of them or just the main website IP?

You need to point your domain to the IP address listed in the dashboard’s ‘Account Details’ section, not the ones shown behind the cross. Read the article for a clearer explanation.

It shows a cross next to the settings because your domain is using Cloudflare’s nameservers instead of ours, and is pointing to Cloudflare’s IP addresses instead of your website IP with us.

Like the text in the screenshot says: this is fine if Cloudflare is setup correctly, but our DNS checker has no way to tell. So you’ll have to check it yourself.

Besides that, just ignore the crosses. It’s not recommended but it’s also not broken if it works for you.
