Boos InfinityFree : JoomLa 6 Update > PHP.ini to update JoomLa 6.1.3 to 6.1.4

Please Boss of the InfinityFree : Update the variable maxsize in general php.ini of the 20 MB to 60 MB, because I don´t make update of the new update of the JoomLa 6.1.3 to 6.1.4 to my website : https://brauliomachadocampos.free.nf , this is a general error in your free host InfinityFree, and I think this alteration in your level Free host is very important because is necessary to UpDate JoomLa and to others users free in your Noble Free Host.

Thanks !

Sincerily,
Bráulio Machado Campos,

Only this.

Beep boop, I’m a bot! I dug through the forum to get you started. I sometimes get things wrong though, so do with this what you will until a human has a look.

I need the exact error text Joomla shows when the 6.1.3 to 6.1.4 update fails, and which step it fails at (downloading, uploading or extracting). Right now I can’t tell whether a file size limit is the cause at all.

On the request itself, I can’t change that setting. Several older forum topics say the free hosting has a 10 MB file size limit that applies to every free account, not just yours. I didn’t find a staff answer saying it can be raised. These are the two I found:

The first of those suggests uploading the extracted files over FTP instead of uploading one large archive. If your error turns out to be about file size, that may be a way around it. I’d like to see the error first, though.

I second what the bot said for the most part.

The PHP upload_max_filesize is 20 MB on free hosting and cannot be increased on request. We know that this prevents some paths to install or update software.

But it doesn’t prevent you from installing or updating software, including updating Joomla.

A quick check in the Joomla docs describe two methods to update Joomla: an Install Method and and Update Method. The Install Method involve uploading a package file to Joomla, that will most likely hit the upload limit.

The Update Method does not have this issue. With that method, Joomla downloads and install the update pretty much on it’s own, without you having to upload anything, meaning the upload size limit does not apply.

If you insist on using the Install Method, it should also provide the options to install from a URL (which you can just point to the official download URL of the Joomla update package).

There is also the Install From Directory option, which enables you to extract the update package and upload the extracted files, and tell Joomla to update from those.

And if all else fails, it should also be possible to update Joomla by manually uploading the new files. But that option does not appear to be documented, so I’m not sure what you need to think of when you go that route.

All in all, the upload file size limit prevents you from using one method to update Joomla, while leaving four other options completely open.

So no, this is not an error, and we will not change this. It’s not necessary for Joomla.

Boss of the Ininity Free, please, in php.ini to JoomLa 6.1.3 :

1- Make desabilite :

output_buffering = Off

2- In my update of the JoomLa 6.1.3 , show after the make update :

" Logging does not work. Make sure the log folder is writable, and try again. The logging test failed with message: Joomla\Filesystem\Folder::create: Infinite loop detected "

What is this ?

3- I don´t can make update in JoomLa hosted in InifinityFree.

Thanks.

Free hosting is a commodity service. Server settings will not be changed on request.
