I’m trying to create a “subdomain” on example.rf.gd such that the address would look like test.example.rf.gd but I’m getting errors. I think its because I’m trying to write test.example in the text field and selecting rf.gd in the dropdown, and it doesn’t like the dot.
Anyway, what I’m trying to do is to create separate spaces off of my main site for small unrelated projects and I thought subdomains was the way to do this. Is there a preferred way to accomplish this? I’m just a hobbyist, so I might have a test site for purpose x, then purpose y, then purpose z.
It seems a single InfinityFree login will allow 3 accounts within it. I know I could create a new distinct account for each purpose, but I thought I could do it all under one account. Is this how I have to do it? I hope not.
One reason I’m looking into this is that my site will become deactivated and deleted. But if my single site/account can accommodate multiple purposes, then its more likely I can keep it active and live. Any advice is appreciated.
I would recommend getting a custom domain. .com is about $12/yr and .top about $3. You can create subdomains on those in the free system without issues (it also looks more professional)
Instead of creating one free subdomain with multiple sub-subdomains (e.g. foo.example.rf.gd and bar.example.rf.gd), you can also just create multiple free subdomains on a single hosting accounts (e.g. foo-example.rf.gd and bar-example.rf.gd).
Subdirectories are also an option (e.g. example.rf.gd/foo/ and example.rf.gd/bar/), but then they all share the same htdocs directory, which could qualify as “comingling”.
If you really want subdomains of your own name, a custom domain is your best option. Premium hosting is also an option, but a custom domain name on free hosting is much cheaper.
