Hi, I am running a 42web website, which works fine. However, when attempting to connect via FTP I get an error 530, on both File Zilla and WinSCP.
Yes, I have double checked my login details, and I have owned previous accounts in the past, not having any issues doing the same exact login steps I did for this website.
Here are the File Zilla logs (sorry for removing the dots in URLs, as a new user I can’t put > 2 links in a post):
Status: Resolving address of "ftpupload net"
Status: Connecting to 185.27.134.11:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Status: Initializing TLS...
Status: TLS connection established.
Command: USER [REDACTED]
Response: 331 User if0_38400490 OK. Password required
Command: PASS ***********
Response: 530 Login authentication failed
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server
I am in Ireland, I see both “ftp epizy com” and “ftpupload net” as down when I ping them, but maybe this is because they don’t have their http port open?
What I find strange is that e.g. File Zilla manages to connect, and it’s clearly getting an error related to a wrong login. Any ideas? Thanks
Thanks, I’ve tried connecting in different countries, different ftp clients, copying the login/pass every time from the infinityfree website page, and reset the password. so yes I’ve checked the login/pass multiple times, as said in the question.
Of course I might have used the wrong one, everyone can make dumb mistakes, but I don’t think so. You’re supposed to use the one in Account > FTP Details right?
Ok, might have gotten it working.
I misunderstood the “control panel” thing when reading the help topic. This refers to cpanel.infinityfree.com, not dash.infinityfree.com. Now I can connect to FTP, albeit with a VPN. Thanks for the help!
Hi, thanks for reaching out. I have solved my problem as indicated by the previous message, and I mentioned me using a VPN (because otherwise the university wifi firewall would prevent me from accesing ftpupload) in hopes this could be something to investigate.
FTP connection issues are definitely something to investigate. However, like you suspect, your university’s firewall is probably causing the issues. If so, please understand that there is not a lot we can do to remove the block instituted by your university. Only your university’s network administrators can do that.
? I said I solved my issue, the vpn was a solution to another problem, I solved this part of the problem by myself. I just pointed it out in case it could affect something related to my other problem, the reason why I created this topic.
