this is a special case

iFastNet’s own forum seems to be broken at the moment, likely irrelevant but just saying they have a lot on their platter

on another note, this is why it’s rarely a good idea to give estimates or make predictions :joy:

ifastnet trains us as if we were in the army, so every day we have alerts and military exercises :rotating_light:

it has become so common that we don’t even write “pinned notifications” anymore
rather, we simply just hang someone’s topic on top

I am a little worried about the trend regarding the situation on ifastnet
things happen, as if one of their employees starts to make some changes in the system today, then quits, and is replaced by someone new who knows nothing and does not have the big picture, in the sense that one action on his part leads to 10 bad ones, and then he resigns or goes somewhere higher, some third person comes and decides to change the MOFH API, so a third of things don’t work somewhere else
and so it goes round and round

I do not know
I would expect more organization for something that belongs to the IT sector
this is now like if you have a construction site where 50 foreign citizens from 10 countries work and no one knows the official language, and then it happens that one worker demolishes a wall and that same wall is being built on the other side by another worker
and none of those two workers notice what they are doing, but a third party like infinityfree has to inform them that what they are doing is bad.

Today I lost 3 hours solving a problem with the Internet

I have dual boot Win11 and Kali

on Win everything is fine and has online access
on Kali eth0 and Wlan0 do not work at all
wrote dozens of commands and nothing works
it does not reach the router at all
at least Lo is working and I can ping 127.0.0.1

so I said I’m going to do a dist upgrade, maybe it will work

During the upgrade, I went to eat something and the system auto-logged me out due to being inactive after a particular period of time

when I try to login through the GUI, it tells me that authentication failed
and I can’t even click on the password entry field with the mouse
but I remember to try pressing ctrl + alt + f1/f2/f3 on the keyboard
and to log in that way (while the update is still doing something of its own in another process but I can’t see that)
I’m trying to call that update to see what it does because I know it’s waiting for some YES/NO type confirmations
but the OS doesn’t allow me because some other process is holding it
I try to kill that process with kill 7457 = I don’t have authority

at the end typed in the terminal “restart”

and re-entered Kali
and gave the order to proceed with the upgrade

but it didn’t help either

in the end, I decided to put the entire image of the Lin partition that I have as a backup over the existing partition

and again it doesn’t work - wtf?

I go to win11 again and everything works normally there

and then
I remember that the electricity went out for less than 10 seconds
and maybe the router was not completely refreshed, but something was left “hanging”
and in it I also have MAC filtering and other things, so maybe it blocks Kali
although those things are more for WIFI
and I am connected via Ethernet and MAC for eth0 is of course the same as on Win11
so there should be no problem
so I went and unplugged the power from the router and turned it back on

and the internet worked immediately on Kali

I don’t know what happened in the router to block Kali

if I had at least tried restarting the router first instead of all this above
but it confused me why it works normally in Win and that led me astray

I find it interesting that there are days when everything doesn’t want to work as it should
and whatever you start to do has to screw up

I don’t know if it’s a horoscope or what but I made sure of that at least 10 times

Similar story concept as nowadays twitter and Reddit :frowning:

It is Twitter by heart and soul, Elon renaming a app with a horrible community doesn’t change the fact that it is Twitter and forever will be.

Yeah. I turned off auto update on my phone so I still have the Twitter app with the blue bird. And on my PC I have like 6 userscripts to change everything back to the way it was.

Really?
I mean, not if you follow the people that I do!

“Why is all of your Twitter, like, anime?”
- My cousin, 2023

Not word for word what he said, but pretty much!
(Yes, they don’t like anime)
It’s funny to watch American country kids cringe at that stuff

Ah yes.

It attracted some of the worst audience on Twitter, sometimes illegaly.

Looks like this forum got updated.
This gonna reduce my activity on this forum severely :upside_down_face: :sob:

So basically, now we have new ui for preferences and a new set of badges icons:

I don’t like this.

What? The icons?
This have existed in almost all discourse forums I have ever seen for a long time (And this joined recently)

But the fact that I cannot access the forum on my phone makes me :upside_down_face:
