20000 forum users - Awesome Special Event!

Yep, it’s unpinned now! The code has already been gutted. And there has been surprisingly little hubbub about this deprecation, despite many people using GoGetSSL certificates.

True, but if they won’t read, then they won’t read the announcement either.

There is a big banner in the client area if you view any GoGetSSL certificate clearly stating that it’s deprecated, with a link to the announcement. I hope that’s clear enough.

Definaitly on my list. But with a full time job, a disabled wife, and disabled 10 year old daughter (plus constant custody battles with her mum), time is a bit of a luxary lol

I had a customer come in with a desktop pc which had a weird illuminated power switch that was totally smashed

He was in a rush to get on with some work and couldn’t wait the 5 days delivery time for a new switch so I had to get creative and make something to fit

I ended up using the left click button from an old mouse and a screw as a spacer, drilled a hole in the front panel for a new power led

It works perfectly but I am not happy bodging things like this :stuck_out_tongue:

You know the old addage. If it’s stupid and it works, it aint stupid

I’m shocked that the customer wasn’t willing to wait though. Personally, I’d rather wait and have it done properly. But then again, if I’m working on something important, I have it backed up to my laptop as well, so I can work on it on the go

I’ve bodged much worse. I needed to use my old phone for one more week, but the charging port was broken off in the thing. I superglued the piece onto the board, and bent the metal pins into the grooves that they were supposed to be in. It worked, but I couldn’t transfer data   !

I also had my OEM UbuntuBook charger cable go into that state where it only worked in one direction. Which explained for 2 days why the charger’s power block was gorilla taped to the top lid of the UbuntuBook. It was very convenient though .

I’m really good at keeping semi-important backups up-to-date

If you’re a wokey type person with no sense of humor then don’t watch paul hogan’s funny prediction of the future as you won’t like it

Seems like Discourse hates my browser now.

Meanwhile me using android 14. Why do they state in the title it’s for IOS while they can just tell specific reasons why? (And the basic-HTML page would be stupid IMO.)

gotta spoof my useragent string now :upside_down_face:

Anybody rocking a TI-Nspire CX calculator nowadays? I still am, for many things.

(I don’t think anyone here would still use one, but let me know if you do! Even if you don’t use it, it’s still cool to hear about!)

I’ve had this calculator for a long while now, probably 7 years. Still amazing.

I’ve always wanted to use it as a beneficial tool when shopping, but every time I bring the calculator into a store, the theft alarms go off. Annoying, and bad. I use my phone instead, but I’ve always wanted to figure out why my calculator set those off.

Today, I opened the calculator’s internals to replace the screen, because I dropped the calculator from a great height. Guess what I’ve found?

THIS!

(My face redacted, because of the Internet)

A Security Strip in my TI-Nspire CX!

Must have been from the Best Buy I bought this from back then. This is my first time opening the internals, so there isn’t a way I could have done it.

At least I found it. I have removed it, and now I can finally use this calculator in a store. Because physical buttons feel better than flat smooth glass. :slightly_smiling_face:

How? I only took a 3-hour network break!

Not quite the same modle I don’t think. But I had a TI scientific calculator for my GCSE’s and Alevels 2006-2010… God that makes me feel old now lol.

I took mine into loads of stors (mostly because it was in my school bag) and never set the alarms off haha

Good luck using a broken forum though.

But is the problem really Android 14? iOS is a bit different from Android because Android actually supports different browsers, iOS only supports skins for Safari. If Apple stops updating Safari on older iDevices, at some point you’re going to run into issues with browsers not supporting the latest web standards.

Even an EOL version of Android shouldn’t have this issue because browsers can just ship the latest and greatest render engine that supports all the newest features.

Also, does Discourse just check user agents or do they actually test for feature support? Then user agent spoofing will not work if your browser is just lacking features needed for it to work.

I’m not sure which browser you are using, but maybe check if it’s still being updated for your device.

How many likes did you use? I know I’ve managed 20 in a day without problems

I earned the “Out of Love” badge just 7 hours ago, and apparently the limit is 50

I remembered it being less as a TL3 user before getting promoted to TL4, because I managed to reach my daily like limit instantly… But now I don’t know anymore; probably they changed it since then or it’s still kept the same…

90% sure the limit goes up with each TL level, not sure if that is officially documented or not though.
