So fancy version of LXC?
Luckily my large vps sponsored by @anon86539743 uses Proxmox as the base

@Frank419 what’s your server’s specs, again? :v

Fun fact:

Contrary to what many might think, the path C:\ is NOT a heavily restricted path. Any regular users can create folders in it.

The only paths that are limited by default are what’s there by default, like C:\Windows\, C:\Program Files\, etc. Those are paths where regular users cannot do anything with it, and would require elevation if an admin wants to change it.

I accidentally discovered this today when I’m using all my Windows administration knowledge to stop some trouble makers installing strange things to the classroom’s computer…

It’s here:

It’s based on KVM, I think, because there’s a bunch of RedHat VirtIO devices on it…

In it’s heyday, maybe. Right now, it seems to be pretty much dead technology.

15 years ago or so, OpenVZ used to be quite popular, especially for cheap VPS, due to the low overhead and ability for providers to more easily oversell resources compared to KVM. But performance improvements in KVM and servers becoming more powerful has made this mostly obsolete.

According to the Wikipedia page of LXC, OpenVZ used to have some benefits at first due to having better security than LXC, but later LXC versions closed that gap.

The problem is that (unlike LXC, which can run on any modern, unmodified Linux OS) OpenVZ requires quite extensive kernel modifications to work. And the latest version of OpenVZ, which is already almost 9 years old, is still stuck on the kernel from CentOS 7.

The only reason to be using OpenVZ now is because you’ve been using it for 10+ years already and don’t care to build a new VPS offering and boot your customers off the old hardware.

The command systemd-detect-virt can check which type of virtualization is being used. If that command is not available, then virt-what can also do it.

I’m not a fan of that title, because it neither disappeared nor permanently lost connection with us (yet)

People are starting to use my JriMail platform, which is amazing to see! While I was working with a buddy to reset their password, I noticed that someone chose to sign up for JriMail using their InfinityFree Hosting Account… ID? Hostname? I don’t know what to properly call it, but it would either start with epiz0_ or if0_ . Anyways, I’m just wondering why they would do such a thing? It’s an odd decision, but hey, at least they signed up and used it.

If the helicopter really disappeared, there would be many more news articles and things appearing on the internet. I would have heard about it, and I am not really that interested.

An amazing video, made by an amazing person explaining things many may need to know.

I’d call them usernames; plus old platform hosting accounts are usually prefixed with epiz_ as far as I remember.

I’m also sorry for the unusual time I’m posting this (I should have gone to sleep since some time already), but while I was playing GTA, my bestie had to come out with an idea that required me to create a second character for me to apply the customisations she required me to put in that character so as to make it more handsome, which were all in a short-form video without any explanation as to how to apply those changes, so I had to inspire myself in trying to get it as close and I finally got it right in most details (only one of them had to be not right). In all of that, I managed to keep most of the things I had in my first character, but not the level and everything else, so I technically had to start all over on that one…

Thats really cool. I’d like to make my own web mail. But don’t have the time to make something as nice as yours at the moment. Although, that reminds me I need to set up a proffesional email linked to my website, so much better for job hunting ect if I can have a proffesional email

I sometimes search for crappy movies (as you are probably aware) just for fun and to see how terrible the plot / acting / special effects could possibly be

I just came across this vampire movie that has something I have never seen before !

Right at the start of the movie we see the vampire is dead killed by a stake through the heart, his assistant finds a surgeon to give the vampire a heart transplant to bring him back to erm the living dead I guess :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t mean to be a bother, but doesn’t it seem like it’s time to un-pin this announcement? It’s been up for a while now…

I’ve subscribed to his channel, and my phone and laptop goes off whenever he posts another video. He provides good, honest content.

I was never aware of this until now. Now I know! The more you know sound plays… :joy:

Whenever you have some time, maybe around 3~4 weeks of time, I would suggest building one. In the end, you feel like you created your own webmail service, like Google and Outlook. At least, that’s what it felt like for me!

In this thread I’ve posted some real movie stinkers and a few ok ones too

Not really.
Why?
Because a lot of users do not read!

That’s because there is no algorithm telling them what to read :stuck_out_tongue:
