ZeroSSL no longer available for new certificates

We have decided to discontinue ZeroSSL as an option for new free SSL certificates on our platform.

Why we made this decision

After investigating certificate provisioning issues, we discovered that approximately 60% of ZeroSSL certificate requests were failing to complete successfully. Many of you have likely encountered this frustrating error message:

The order got stuck at the provider or took too long to complete.

This high failure rate is specific to ZeroSSL, our Let’s Encrypt and Google Trust Services integrations maintain much better reliability. We believe this indicates an issue with ZeroSSL’s systems rather than our implementation.

We don’t want to provide an unreliable experience to our users, so we’ve made the decision to remove this problematic option.

What this means for you

If you’re using Let’s Encrypt, Google Trust Services, or the Recommended option: Nothing changes, your service continues as normal.

If you currently have a ZeroSSL certificate: Your existing certificate will continue working until expiration, but you won’t be able to renew it through our platform. We recommend switching to Let’s Encrypt or Google Trust Services before your current certificate expires.

For new certificates: ZeroSSL is no longer available as an option.

Important note: This change doesn’t affect certificates for free subdomains, which are managed by iFastNet independently.

Still want to use ZeroSSL?

You can still obtain ZeroSSL certificates directly from their website and upload them manually to your account. However, you’ll lose access to our automated SSL certificate features:

  • Unlimited free certificates with one-click provisioning
  • Automated CNAME record setup
  • Set-once CNAME configuration (no changes needed for renewals)
  • One-click certificate installation

Our recommendation: Switch to Let’s Encrypt or Google Trust Services through our Free SSL Certificates service for the best experience.

So I’m using the free version and a subdomain. My website is constantly being flagged as a problem.

Looks like the solution would be to use Let’s Encrypt, or Google Trust Services… Can I do that with a free subdomain in any way or is the note saying I’m out of luck.

Like I wrote, and you quoted:

As for the problem you’re having:

Who is flagging your website exactly? And do they also say why they are flagging your website?

I would be extremely surprised if it would be caused by the choice of certificate provider. ZeroSSL is generally a well known and trusted company, and a website using a certificate from them is not a cause for concern.

So whatever the problem is, I don’t think that switching SSL provider for free subdomains would help you.
