The reason for this is that we provide a website hosting service, not a file sharing service. Embedding/hotlinking has always been blocked, and predates the current bot protection system.
We don’t have any hard limits on bandwidth usage, but that doesn’t mean we’re OK with people using our hosting to upload images to embed in message boards and the like.
