Does infinity disable external links like gif images or jpgs ?
when i post these links on external forums or social media
they only show the LINK, but not the image or gif.

The security system disables any form of metadata there was on the real page. So, if you publish an image from a website hosted here, it will only show the URL of it, not additional metadata, because it’s expected to load just once in a browser, and then you can load it many times showing the same contents, unless you decide to change the URL, but without security system in action because there is already a cookie saved.
Imgur is hosted on their servers, not InfinityFree ones, and obviously, doesn’t have any security system, so the images show as they are in original format in other sites, things that the security system prohibits to do.

So are you sayng that all image-LINKS hosted on IMGUR
are a security risk?

All image links hosted on Imgur are secure, not security risks, because there is a wildcard SSL certificate installed for *.imgur.com and imgur.com.

Ok thankyou x

Embedding files hosted on our hosting onto other websites is not possible. You can link to these files, but embedding them doesn’t work.

thanx for the reply
but whats the REASON behind thease rules
when other hosting companys, dont have a problem with it ?

We need to prevent hackers from using this service, so we enabled the security system to prevent bots (also spambots) from using your website, and if they do access it, they need to have JavaScript and cookies enabled on your browser.

thanx for the reply EO1
But IMGUR has Never been hacked successfully have they
my original hosting company “X10” have never had a “Hack-Announcement”

I don’t know if hackers hacked Imgur, because I didn’t search enough on Internet.

The reason for this is that we provide a website hosting service, not a file sharing service. Embedding/hotlinking has always been blocked, and predates the current bot protection system.

We don’t have any hard limits on bandwidth usage, but that doesn’t mean we’re OK with people using our hosting to upload images to embed in message boards and the like.
