so I have created a new wordpress site for the first time - i have downloaded firezilla and transfered files from wordpress and sql - when i use the url above it brings me to a static page that has rainbow colours and an ad but doesnt have the qz at the end of the url or the error this site cant be reached,. this has been since approx 5pm 15th july i dont want to wait the full 72hr only to find i havent linked the site properly, thanks very much

hi again, thanks for your help so far - i know im doing something wrong here -
anyway so i have added casadelosbatesforsale. as a subdomain but i think it may be that i have casadelosbatesforsale.as my domain but my wordress url is different and i have not done something correctly to link the host with the page…

If you’re using a free subdomain, there is no “linking” you need to do. Linking the domain to the account happens automatically and pretty much instantly, so no need to worry about that.

If you want, you can also preview your website by editing your hosts file:

admin…this is what i have done…created website on wordpress with a wordpress domain…transferred files and sql using firezilla to infinityfree. when i opened an account with infinityfree i chose a new domain name ending rf.gd - i have added this as a subdomain but i think the problem is that i am not using the wordpress domain - si or no? yo no se. gracias

I see a directory listing page on your site. That means that there are no files, or they are in the wrong spot. Please make sure your files are uploaded within the /htdocs folder of your domain.

thanks for your support - iam struggling with these files i think i have put them into firezilla again now its still directory but showing the wordpress url too

so to be clear i have now reloaded the files inot filezilla casadelosbates.rg into the hdocs - the file is showing and this file is a zip wordpress casadelosbates.wordpress…if this correct - muy bien - pero no - then what do i do - ia msorry for these problems thankyou for your help, muchas gracias

This. Please note that this is the folder casadelosbatesforsale.rf.gd/htdocs/ for your domain right now. Your files are in the main htdocs folder, which doesn’t have a domain assigned to it right now.

vale - i think i hvae done it the infinityfree control panel is showing the domain name is ion use with the wordpressfiles - however the webpage is still showing the directory page…gracias

Not quite. I see you’ve uploaded a WordPress XML file. You can just dump that on any hosting account and expect it to work. It’s not WordPress itself, just data for WordPress.

Instead, you can install WordPress on your domain (using Softaculous), and then use the Import feature in WordPress itself to upload your data from your old site to your new WordPress installation.
