Why the hits usage doesn't reset after 24 hours

The hits usage never reset after 24 hours.

What makes you think that it doesn’t reset?

  1. Are you very sure that you waited 24 hours, literarily, instead of just go to sleep and wake up the next day?
  2. You might see some hits being counted. Are you absolutely certain that no one, actually no one, including robots, have visited your site after the usage is reset?

  1. Yes, my hits usage doesn’t reset after 1 week, and keep counting as well.
  2. “You might see some hits being counted. Are you absolutely certain that no one, actually no one, including robots, have visited your site after the usage is reset?” Yes, no one.

That is weird. Could you please screenshot the hit usage history graph (not just the xxxxx/50000 bar one) in your account statistics?

it’s been two days ago, the hits still stuck in 15000, and this day, going up to 19154

I’m not staff so I cannot just go to the servers and check your account. Admin might have more insights into this if something is really wrong.

But of course it might also just be correct. It’s very hard to be certain that nothing visits your website because of the crawlers. They can find your website even if you don’t advertise it.

One thing to keep in mind, I’m fairly sure the counter is simply the number of hits in the last 24 hours. So it doesn’t “reset” to zero, older hits just stop being counted.

And as Meishin said, crawlers from search engines and other web indexing bots can pop in and find your site quite easily, and can often generate LOTS of hits

I had a look at your account and I think the daily hits used counter is just showing the wrong number. The actual hits usage is more like what the graph shows. Internal counters align show a number for the whole month which is much lower than today’s usage.

So I’m pretty sure that you don’t need to worry about hitting the daily hits limit, your actual usage is still very far from the limit. You can safely ignore that counter for now.
