I am just starting with InfinityFree. To browse to my site on great-site.com I have to download an msix file on Chrome or a browser extension on Firefox. Why?

You don’t, you have the URL wrong. great-site.com isn’t one of InfinityFree’s subdomains, great-site.net is. Your site’s URL is https://rental-manager.great-site.net/, which leads to a page saying “New domain!”
