This is just a random question so I’m not linking my site since it’s nowhere near done yet, but as soon as I hit publish I noticed an ad at the bottom for site.pro. The main reason I picked IF was no ads. And add for SP is an ad. Seriously, I could host this thing cheap on other sites, the draw here was no ads, and free. So now it’s just free?
Site.Pro is a 3rd party company unaffiliated with InfinityFree and will add an advertisement back to them, InfinityFree does not add any advertisements themselves. Using your own code, or a CMS like WordPress won’t have any ads as they are controlled by you.
I can really understand the frustration there.
As Greenreader said, Its not Infinity Free that are adding the adds, its SitePro. I fell into the same trap when I first started. My honest opinion is that if you’re using SitePro there are better hosting services with better editors. But if you’re going to use wordpress or your own code, then here is the best I’ve seen by a long way.
For what it’s worth, with very little knowladge and practice, you can make a better site manually than with Site Pro just takes a bit longer
Yeah, I can code, it’s just been a really long time. I have Dreamweaver which I usually use in split-mode so I can see the code and edit it, but the last time I properly built a site was over ten years ago. Since then I have been doing Wordpress. I will probably just delete it and start over using Dreamweaver. I didn’t check, but do these support FTP?
I’m also considering just moving to a paid site like Hostinger. Their plans are cheap and locked for 4 years and they have more features. I’ll build this one first then decide.
Not sure what you mean by “these”, but if you mean the storage of the site, yes.
They do, but the vast majority of websites don’t need them. WordPress and especially static sites work on free hosting just fine (and don’t have ads unless you put them there).
I believe dreamweaver has FTP support (it’s been a few years since I’ve used it regularly), but installing a desktop FTP client like FileZilla is preferred.
WYSIWYG Editor?
Yeah, that’s pretty much what dreamweaver is
