White Screen Highlights 404 Error on wp-admin with Custom Domain

Hi everyone,

White screen testing has been crucial in helping me diagnose display issues. When I attempt to log in to http:// mysite. com/wp-admin, I first encounter a 404 error, followed by a blank gray screen that prevents me from accessing the admin dashboard, and white plain screen confirmed that the problem, I’m experiencing is likely tied to my WordPress or hosting configuration rather than my browser or device.

This issue is specific to my custom domain hosted on InfinityFree. Interestingly, my other site, which is hosted on InfinityFree using a free sub-domain, works flawlessly. The problem seems isolated to the custom domain setup, and I can’t figure out what’s causing it.

To troubleshoot, I have tried deleting the .htaccess file and verifying the siteurl in phpMyAdmin, but neither solution resolved the issue. As someone new to WordPress, I’m still learning, Any insights or suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks!

As general advice, you could search the web for similar issues.

If you’d like more specific help from us, we need more specific information from you. The URL where you’d expect to find your wp-admin would help a lot, and/or perhaps screenshots that show what you see. Only a textual description doesn’t really paint the picture for me.

Deleting the .htaccess file will definitely cause you problems down the line. Please either restore the deleted file, or create a new .htacces file with the default WordPress lines.

Changing the site URL in phpMyAdmin can sometimes work, but only if you moved the site from one domain to another. Did you migrate the site to another domain?

Thank you for the feedback!
I will restore or recreate the .htaccess file with the default WordPress lines as suggested. I didn’t migrate the site, so the site URL change might not apply here. I will also share more details and screenshots shortly to help clarify the blank WhiteScreen issue.
