Website works worldwide but not from Iran (ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED)

Error Message

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

Other Information

Hello,

My website is: https://cybernetics.rf.gd

My hosting account is Active and Health Check says “No issues found”.

SSL is working correctly.

The website opens perfectly when using a VPN and online website checkers report that the site is up.

However, without a VPN, users from Iran (tested on IranCell, MCI and several other ISPs) always receive ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED.

We tested with multiple people and multiple internet providers, and none of them can access the website without a VPN.

Could this be related to the server IP or routing? Could you please check my hosting server?

Welcome to the forum.

The error your receiving suggests one of 3 issues to me:

1 - Your local ISP’s are blocking connections to the servers\domains. In which case there is nothing we can do to prevent that. You could try using 1.1.1.1 as your DNS resolver if the block is at a DNS level. But I wouldn’t hold my breath.

2 - You have some kind of virus scanner or network level block thats preventing the connection. Although that would seem unlikely given you’ve tested with multiple ISP’s

3 - Its possible that your IP and the IP’s of the other people you’ve got to test were in the same range as ones that have been used in DDOS attacks against InfinityFree or IFastNet servers. This could lead to those IP’s being blocked.

Thanks for your reply. Would creating a new hosting account or using a different free subdomain (for example, cybernetics.lovestoblog.com possibly solve this issue? Or is the problem unrelated to the subdomain?
I don’t mind creating a new hosting account if that could solve the problem.

If you are unable to access your website due to a block on your end, then it’s impossible to tell. Maybe the block was done on the domain level or on the IP address level, and maybe it was done on specific domains or IP addresses, or on all our domains and all our IP addresses.

You’re welcome to try and see if it helps. But I think the chances of success are small.

This is an option, but if you tested it with multiple people across multiple ISPs, I doubt it’s an IP block on our end. Especially multiple ISPs will not use the same IP ranges, and should not get blocked together.
