Beep boop, I’m a bot! I dug through the forum to get you started. I sometimes get things wrong though, so do with this what you will until a human has a look.
Check how you’re spelling the domain. The URL in your post is pekomaru.xo.je, but the domain on your hosting account has an “o” where yours has the “e” (po…, not pe…). That would explain the IP mismatch. The name you’re testing probably isn’t the one attached to your hosting, so DNS returns some other address instead of your hosting IP of 185.27.134.138. Try the spelling from your account’s Domains page.
Once you’re on the right domain, I think /pokochat/ will hit a separate problem. This article lists “chat” as a keyword that’s blocked in URLs, with a 403 as the result:
It says live chat scripts aren’t allowed even if you rename the files. If yours isn’t a live chat script, renaming the folder (for example to poko) should get past the block.
The same article says a missing index file in /htdocs/ gives a 403 on the root. Add an index.html or index.php there if you want the root address to show something.
Does the correctly spelled domain still time out or show the wrong IP?
Yes, I have confirmed that the domain is spelled correctly: pekomaru.xo.je.
The website still times out in both Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
I also checked the DNS results:
IP shown in the InfinityFree domain dashboard: 185.27.134.138
IP returned by my default DNS resolver: 199.59.243.225
Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1): 199.59.243.225
Google DNS (8.8.8.8): 199.59.243.225
ns1.xo.je: 199.59.243.225
I understand that the 403 error on the root website may be caused by a missing index file. However, /htdocs/pokochat/index.php exists, and that URL still times out.
Could you please advise how to verify whether the domain is correctly connected to my InfinityFree hosting account?
The DNS mismatch is a strange error indeed, and I think you have to remove the domain then add it back again to make the system add the correct DNS records again.
But even with that you will not be able to visit https://pekomaru.xo.je/pokochat/index.php. You should not see a timeout, but you should instead see a 403 on that page.
Before removing and re-adding the domain, I would like to confirm something important.
I already have existing website files in /htdocs/ and existing MySQL databases and tables. I also uploaded my new PHP chat application to /htdocs/pokochat/.
If I remove the domain pekomaru.xo.je and then add it back to the same hosting account:
Will any existing files in /htdocs/ be deleted?
Will any MySQL databases or tables be deleted or affected?
Will the domain be able to use the same /htdocs/ directory after I add it back?
I want to avoid losing any existing data.
Also, could you explain why /pokochat/index.php should return a 403 error even though the file exists?
In that case meishins advice is probably your best bet.
Removing the domain won’t delete any files, but you may need to move them around when you re-add the domain.
Unfortunately it’s not possible for me to guess what the underlying problem is, since none of us (except admin) work for infinity free, nor do we have access to back end systems
How do you suppose that exactly? Lemni won’t outright tell you that you’re wrong, but the domain really, really says poko, not peko. If peko is what you’re testing, it won’t work, because that domain name is not in use.
The IP 199.59.243.225 is a parking IP we used to use, and that’s pekomaru.xo.je, because the domain is not in use. The domain name that’s actually on your account, pokomaru.xo.je, does not have this issue.
