Other Information: Help please for a newbie! Unable to log into my original account (details as above) as 2FA possibly not set up correctly and none of the first 3 of my 8 saved recovery codes worked. Could not find out how to leave any query on the site about this. I therefore registered under another email name, hence this query. How do I recover the initial registration? I have email address, username, password, forum username, 8 recovery codes, name of web site for the first account. Happy to transfer the latter to this new registration but can’t figure out how.

Thank you. I am afraid I have no idea. It got set up but when I click for the 2FA page I get nothing from email or mobile phone (assuming that I would be sent a code). I don’t know if I was supposed to have a code ready to enter? I am little reluctant to set it up again right now for thiscurrent registration to try to see what I did wrong in case I get locked out again. Nor do I understand why the recovery codes don’t work.
When setting up 2FA, you should have used an app like Authy to scan a QR code. You can open this app, select the account InfinityFree and grab the code from there.
2FA by sending email tokens would be weak because you can also reset your password that way (so someone with access to your email could take over your account), and text messages are considered unsafe by security experts, and are also quite expensive.
Neither do I.
Be sure to click the “Use Recovery Code” link first on the 2FA page. You’ll be sent to page where you can enter a recovery code. Dumping it in the One Time Password field doesn’t work.
