Squig dot net is already assigned to an account and in use on another account..
Other Information
Trying to add my custom domain squig dot net to an infinityfree hosted site. I set my nameservers at my domain registrar but I’m getting a message that my DNS is hosted elsewhere. Looking at infinityfree DNS for my site I added the CNAME records as well, but clicking “Add Domain” gives the error that squig dot net already exists.
This means that it’s already on a hosting account at InfinityFree, or another hosting company who uses the same infrastructure. Have you used this domain elsewhere in the past?
Neither of those is the issue. Most probably that the domain was once registered by another user then it expired, and you happened to register the same domain again.
Hi yes I can see my custom domain in there now, thanks. I was actually trying to set this domain on the website I have already started building. It looks like there are now two sites now. Can you tell me the best way to assign the custom domain to the squig.ct.ws website? If I have to start over it wont be a huge deal but it would be nice to reuse what I have already done. Thanks
Ah, I already tried fixing this myself and totally messed everything up. Tried copying the htdocs folder from the root to the subfolder of the new domain I just added. Ended up breaking both sites. Finally just deleted everything and started from scratch. Oh well, thanks everyone for trying to help.
Thanks all for the help. My current situation is that I still have my default hosting domain I started with and then my custom domain is all located in a subfolder of the default domain. I don’t know if this is normal or a problem having both the sites “open”. If there is a way to combine them so all I have is the custom domain hosting site that would be great.
Should I open file manager for the top site and then delete everything out but the squignet folder? Sorry Im having to relearn this web stuff after not doing this for a long time
@Jri-Creator indeed explained the right process to remove the domain. However, that won’t delete the files. You can safely delete the htdocs folder in your account after the domain has been deleted. The other directories contains system data, so you shouldn’t touch them.
