Subject: Images not displaying on custom domain

Error Message

Hello InfinityFree Support and Community,

I am experiencing an issue with my website hosted on InfinityFree.

Domain: pro-muziki.site.je
IP Address: 185.27.134.103

The website is currently online, and all the text, layout, and buttons load correctly. However, the images (cover art) are not displaying at all. They are just showing broken image icons.

Here is some context regarding this issue:

  1. The website was working perfectly fine before the recent widespread SSL certificate outage.

  2. After the SSL issue, I briefly experienced a “502 Bad Gateway” error, which has now disappeared.

  3. My files and code are definitely correct because the same website and images display perfectly on my other InfinityFree account using a free subdomain: pro-music.kesug.com.

  4. I have tried clearing my browser cache, using incognito mode, and different devices, but the images still won’t load on the custom domain.

It seems like there might still be a server-side issue related to the recent SSL fix that is preventing images from loading specifically on custom domains.

Could you please check if there is anything wrong on the server side for this IP, or advise on what else I can do to fix this?

Thank you for your time and support.

Other Information

Subject: Images not displaying on custom domain (pro-muziki.site.je) - IP: 185.27.134.103

Every image link in the uploads folder is returning a 500 error.

Thank you for checking, Meishin. I appreciate the quick response.

I understand it’s a 500 error on the uploads folder. I have checked my files, and the permissions for the uploads folder and the images inside seem to be correct (755 for folders, 644 for files).

Since you mentioned it might be a PHP code crash or an .htaccess issue:

1. I haven’t changed my .htaccess file recently, but I can check it if you can guide me on what to look for.

2. Could you please check the server error logs for my account (IP: 185.27.134.103) to see the exact PHP error that is causing this 500 error? That would help me pinpoint the exact issue.

Thank you for your help.

Meishin isn’t a member of InfinityFree staff (nor are any of us on the forum, excluding admin), so we cant, and I’m not convinced that any logs even exist that could be checked.

you might be better going into the “PHP Settings” in your infinityfree dashboard, and turning on error messages in there. That should make any errors visible on your page to help you pinpoint the error

Thank you, Meishin! I found the issue. It was my .htaccess file inside the uploads folder. The line AddHandler cgi-script … was conflicting with the server configuration and causing the 500 error for all files, including images. I removed that line and kept only the and Options -ExecCGI security rules. The images are now loading perfectly. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

There’re some recent server changes that blocked many .htaccess directives, so that’s probably why. I do recommend you to remove the Options -ExecCGI line as well, because free hosting doesn’t have CGI to start with.
