SSL will not work

Hello, so I have a SSL certificate till 21st of May 2025. I was trying setting up new, where I clicked button “Install SSL Certificate Automatically” and been waiting and waiting and nothing happens. What do I do?

Kind regards, Tim

I’m sorry, but you didn’t really include any useful information to be able to say something sensible about this issue. Your whole message can basically be summarized as “The “Install SSL Certificate Automatically” button didn’t do what I wanted it to do”. But just like that sentence, your message doesn’t tell us what you expected to happen, and what you actually see.

And “nothing happens” is just objectively not true. Something always happens. Whether that’s an error, or a button that says it did something but it didn’t do it, there is always something to tell.

Next time, please be more clear in your message and include relevant details.

I had a quick look at your domains, and I don’t see any issues. You have one certificate on your account that’s Issued, which is a GoGetSSL certificate installed on the 21st of May. The Verify Installation card on the certificate detail page shows the same details on the currently installed certificate. In other words: the certificate you have is the certificate that’s installed.

The Status field says “Expiring Soon”, because it is. The 21st of May is less than 30 days away, so we recommend getting a new SSL certificate to replace the current one.

If this doesn’t answer your question, can you please explain more about the issue you’re having?

Yes, when i click that button, it always extended the SSL certificate. Now when GoGetSSL is going away, nothing happens as it doesn’t extend the expiring date from May 21st to another, further date. I clicked that button several times and it still says it’s expiring on May 21st. Will SSL expire on May 21st, even If I clicked button to Install SSL several times?

with GoGetSSL going, you’ll not be able to extend the certificate any further. you can still request a new certificate from one of the other providers.

Personally, I use the Let’s Encrypt ones. but thats just because thats the one “use reccomended provider” keeps giving me haha

How do I do that? Any link or topic on that one?

Request a new SSL certificate for your domain from a different provider, then install it. This will renew your current SSL certificate, meaning it will not expire on May 21st.

Yes, it will.

Every SSL certificate has an expiration date baked into it. After that, it will no longer work, no matter what. The Install SSL Certificate button just install the SSL certificate on your hosting account. It doesn’t change the SSL certificate in any way, and definitely doesn’t renew it.

If your SSL certificate is close to expiration, you should request a new SSL certificate to replace it. Usually, there is a big Renew Certificate button available to generate the new SSL order, but GoGetSSL no longer offers free SSL certificates, so you cannot get a new GoGetSSL certificate for your domain.

Instead, just request a new certificate for your domain, using a different SSL provider. Using Let’s Encrypt will not work because you have a free subdomain, so I recommend just leaving the provider selection to Recommended and we’ll pick one that be believe is best for your domain.

So now that it expires on July 29th, that’s good? I created new brand new SSL certificate for it and as you said it, I followed it. Thanks!

Yes, that means you’re good for now! All free SSL certificates are only valid for three months, so you will need to come back regularly to renew it. But at least you’re safe after the 21st of May.
