Other Information
Hi!
I have gone through all the steps in this article and also read instructions on different posts on the topic in the forum. The SSL Certificate is from Let’s Encrypt. I have had it many times before, and it has worked, but I have never been able to get the padlock working even though the verification in step 5 in the installation process has been green instead of red as it is now. (I get “status: not found”)
I went to my website (gandi) to check DNS records etc. And they are in order, Cnames as well. In security in my WordPress dashboard it tells me that my Really Simple Security Pro license key has expired. Does that have anything to do with it?
No, you don’t really even need that plugin, you can force HTTPS by changing your site URL.
I don’t see any certificates installed on your site, check the client area’s ssl section for details. Make sure CNAME records are added with your DNS Zone provider
OK. My CNAME records are added. I don’t think the certificate is installed and that’s why I get the error message “status: not found” and the other one: “The certificate you have entered does not match the current private key”. The question is what I do about it - having already done all the things that I mention. Do I have to delete the certificate order and start from scratch? Find another SSL provider? I’m really lost here.
The weird thing here is that nothing has changed with my website (I haven’t done anything with it for months) and all of a sudden the Let’s Encrypt installation doesn’t work, when it has done so for over a year before this.
Yes, it seems to have been a temporary hiccup. I tried again and now it worked.
However, when I go to my website, it still says “not secure” and running it through an SSL checker, gives me the error message " The certificate is not trusted in all web browsers. You may need to install an Intermediate/chain certificate to link it to a trusted root certificate. Learn more about this error. The fastest way to fix this problem is to contact your SSL provider."
I would appreciate any input on this. Thanks!
The SSL is working fine on my end. Please make sure you’re visiting the site using https:// at the beginning. If it still doesn’t work, try opening it in a private window.
OK, good, thanks! Yes, I opened it in a private window and it worked. It also worked in a second browser so in this case I guess it was bc of Chrome. Thanks for the tips!
