The domain does not match the format of a domain name. A domain name should look like ‘example. com’ or ‘example. co. uk’.
Other Information
Hello!
I added a domain written in a non-Latin script to the parked domains, having first converted it to Punycode. However, when I try to generate an SSL certificate for it in the “Free SSL Certificates” section, I get an error: “The domain does not match the format of a domain name. A domain name should look like ‘example. com’ or ‘example. co. uk’.”
Is there any way to generate an SSL certificate for a Punycode domain?
Thank you!
I think that’s because of the semantic of the Punycode domains.
But you COULD generate a SSL certificate with Let’s Encrypt. Could you lend me screenshots?
I tried using different services, such as sslforfree.com and the ACME Client Certbot, but I always got an error saying that the domain could not be verified. Then, here on the forum, I found many confirmations that this is a specific feature of this hosting on the free plan. Therefore, I would like someone, perhaps the hosting administrators, to explain whether it’s possible to obtain an SSL certificate in the “Free SSL Certificates” section specifically for a Punycode domain that is originally not in Latin script. For a regular Latin-script domain, everything works—I tested it—but for a Punycode domain, it doesn’t work.
There was a bug in the client area where it didn’t support IDN domains for any form that accepted domain names. Even though the control panel does allow them of course.
A fix has been made for this and is now being rolled out. You should be able to request an SSL certificate in 10 minutes or so!
Interesting, I wonder who is looking into it.
Because this is a client area bug, I’m the only one who can fix this, and I only read this topic just now.
The usual quick response. It’s a signal that it’s already been seen, it doesn’t always mean that they are looking into it. I would say, it’s a canned response.
