Try installing manually
How do I do it manually?
Can you google?
Anyway is here
I don’t have a paid host, I use infinityfree, infinityfree offers me softaculous for free, and it won’t let me create a forum for smf 2.0.19, only 2.1.4, I don’t like 2.1.4, I want 2.0.19 but when I try to create it it says that Can’t find the installation package. Please don’t talk to me as if I were an engineer or knew computer science.
We are not talking to you as if you were an engineer or a CS student — however, this is web hosting. Not a managed website service.
Which means that the ability to read documentation is more cruicial than a nice little addition.
Please understand that not everyone here knows SMF well. Even if someone knows it well, the best help we can give is still link you to the documentation as most of us don’t have access to the internal system.
If you think that “no I cannot read documentation and want to use auto installer”, that’s also OK. But as you just saw, the auto installer didn’t work.
So you have two option: Either try to read the docs and perform manual installation, or wait for Admin to talk with iFastNet to fix the issue.
I cannot say which is better, so feel free to wait if you really cannot understand the docs.
Softaculous is great when it works, but occasionally it has an issue, or it just doesn’t have the particular version of the particular software you are looking for. If so, you can always install software by hand.
Fortunately, while Softaculous is definitely easier, most software creators do their best to make installation as simple as possible. With most software, the setup is as follows:
I just tried to install SMF myself and it took me less than 10 minutes. Admittedly, I have experience, and so it may take you a bit longer. But not a five years to get a university degree.
