Hello, any idea how to point static IP to the domain? no option for A Name
Do you own the domain?
Yes, I created it here.
and I’m trying to point my IP to my domain.
If you are using a free subdomain, then you do not own the domain
The free subdomains from InfinityFree can’t be used elsewhere and don’t support A records. Perhaps you’re looking for a free subdomain provider?
I try duckdns, and its working, however I have issue with SSl Cert.
Domain names point to IP addresses, not the other way around for basically all intents and purposes. And even if it did, IP addresses are way too scarce and expensive to give every website a dedicated IP address, so we need to put many accounts and websites on a single IP address.
If you’re looking to point your domain name to an IP address, then:
- If you don’t intend to use our web hosting at all, then you should not use our DNS service either. Our nameservers are intended to be used with our web hosting, and using it without it can cause many issues.
- If you only want to point a subdomain of your own domain to that IP address, maybe you can use the CNAME records feature instead? If there is another domain name or hostname that points to the same IP address, then you can just point the CNAME record to that hostname for the same results.
- If you are using a custom domain name, you can also use a third party DNS hosting solution instead. There you will have more options to customize your DNS records, while still using our web hosting.
