Request to Enable PHP Fileinfo (finfo) for OJS 3.4 Installation

Hello Admin,

I am currently setting up OJS (Open Journal Systems) 3.4 on my account (Username: if0_40857847).

I am encountering “HTTP Error” during file uploads. Upon checking the OJS System Information, the PHP Fileinfo (finfo) extension is currently disabled/empty.

Since OJS 3.4 strictly requires this extension to validate MIME types for security, I cannot proceed with any uploads. I am aware that this feature is typically available on paid plans, but unfortunately, I do not have enough budget to upgrade at this moment.

Could you please check if it is possible to enable the fileinfo extension for my free account just for this installation?

Thank you for your kindness and assistance.

Best regards, Ulil Amri

It’s not possible to change PHP settings for individual accounts.

The fileinfo extension is enabled for all accounts, including yours. If OJS is unable to detect it, then that must be a bug in OJS, or at least they are checking something that isn’t the same as “is the extension installed”.
