Request for Details Regarding Your Free Hosting Plan

Dear Support Team,

I hope you are doing well.

I am evaluating your free hosting service for hosting small business and static HTML websites. Before using your platform, I would appreciate it if you could clarify the features and limitations of your free hosting plan.

Could you please provide information on the following points?

  1. Does the free plan include a hosting control panel (cPanel, DirectAdmin, VistaPanel, or your own control panel)?
  2. Is a free SSL certificate included? If yes, is it renewed automatically every year?
  3. How many custom domains can be hosted under one free account?
  4. How much disk space is included?
  5. What is the monthly bandwidth/traffic limit?
  6. How many email accounts (e.g., [email protected]) are included?
  7. How many MySQL databases are available, and what is the maximum database storage?
  8. What PHP versions are supported?
  9. Do you support static HTML, PHP, and WordPress websites?
  10. Is there any guaranteed uptime or uptime SLA for free hosting?
  11. Are there any hidden limitations, such as CPU, RAM, inode, file count, or daily visitor limits?
  12. Will any advertisements or banners be displayed on websites hosted under the free plan?
  13. Are there any restrictions on connecting a custom domain purchased from another registrar (such as GoDaddy or Namecheap)?
  14. Is there an FTP/File Manager available?
  15. Are there any charges required at any stage to continue using the free plan, or is it completely free with no hidden costs?

I would appreciate it if you could also share any documentation or comparison page describing the features and limitations of your free hosting plan.

Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.

Kind regards,
Ankit Mishra

I highly suspect that you already know the limits given how you phrase your inquiries but whatever:

  1. VistaPanel. It’s a custom built panel.
  2. Yes. Free subdomains get managed certificates while custom domains doesn’t. You must renew those by yourself.
  3. Unlimited as long as you keep within the other limits.
  4. 5 GB.
  5. 50,000 daily hits. There’re no conventional monthly bandwidth limits.
  6. 0. Free hosting no longer provides emails.
  7. 400. The database size doesn’t have a solid size limit.
  8. 8.3 only.
  9. Yes.
  10. Ideally 99.9% but it’s free hosting :person_shrugging:
  11. See Documentation > Fair Usage Limits. But these are not “hidden” limits, these are all documented.
  12. No, but the Site.Pro site builder will display one if you decided to use that.
  13. No.
  14. Yes.
  15. No.

Finally please be adviced that there doesn’t exist a “Support Team” on free hosting. All support happens in this forum and is run by volunteers.

To add to Meishin’s answer for this, in my experience the up time is as close to 100% as you can reasonably expect. However there are 2 exceptions:
1 - Because its free hosting, people occasionally host things on a sub domain that causes the registry to suspend the domain at their level (so for example, the ct.ws domain went down for a while, so all sites hosted on it became inaccessible) This is outside of InfinityFree’s control, but there are systems in place to try and prevent it by removing sites that break the terms and conditions
2 - DDOS attacks against groups of sites can take down individual or a small group of hosting IP’s for a short while. This can last for a little while but is usually resolved fairly quickly.

For your information, the answers to almost all of your questions are right there on our website’s home page. Question 2, 3 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14 and 15 are all answered right there on that single page, which should be the first page you see.

And if you’re just asking this to “test the response of support”, then please keep in mind that this is a community forum, most people here can’t actually “do” anything. And this is a free service, so don’t expect 24/7 staff available to help you.

And if you want to see what support is like: just have a look at some recent topics and see how those were handled.

I’ve never understood why people ask this question. All web hosting comes with some kind of control panel. Web hosting by definition doesn’t come with direct server access (that would be a VPS or dedicated server, not web hosting), so the only way to configure your account is through a control panel. The only alternative I can think of would be to have staff do it for you. But that would be insanely inefficient use of time for help desk staff, which is already the biggest cost center for many hosting companies.

So this is a serious question. What would web hosting without a control panel look like? Have you seen or used companies like that?

We don’t provide an SLA, and we’re not going to “guarantee” uptime. Having uptime guarantees means that there needs to be some mechanism in place in case that guaranteed or agreement is not met (otherwise, it’s a meaningless phrase). And both “we’ll give you a discount on next month’s bill” and “we’re going to pay you for damages” doesn’t really make sense for a free hosting service.

SLAs with teeth are mainly interesting for enterprises, who pay enterprise level money, have enterprise level stakes in the operation of the service, and have a team of lawyers who want that SLA stick to beat their supplier with if they don’t meed their obligations. For everyone else, it’s little more than marketing fluff.
