Request for Assistance Regarding Domain ct.ws Blocking

Website URL: https://kikitobias.ct.ws/

Error Message: My internet provider (O2) is blocking access to my website. When I check my subdomain with various website scanners, it appears clean and safe. However, the main domain ct.ws is flagged as malicious or suspicious by several security services. For example, see this scan:

Because the main domain ct.ws is flagged, my entire subdomain hosted on it is being blocked by my ISP.

Other Information: This is a personal wedding website for friends and family, and the URL is printed on invitations and shared widely. The blocking of the main domain by security vendors is causing serious accessibility issues for visitors.

I kindly ask if there is any way InfinityFree can address the reputation issues with the main domain ct.ws or provide a solution to avoid these blocks.

Thank you for your support.

Just to clarify — I uploaded a fresh WordPress installation because I thought the issue might be caused by something on my site. However, now I can’t access the admin area at all, so I temporarily renamed the wp-admin folder to block access and prevent any changes while troubleshooting.

There is no way to fix this other then you contacting your ISP to un-block it.
You can also choose a different free sub-domain, like fwh.is or rf.gd

Also, it seems that your website results in a 404 error. Are you sure you have an index file?

If a domain is blocked on your network, don’t expect other folders to magicially work. Domain is domain, folder names don’t fix blocks.

I feel you there. I’ve had this problem with Virgin Media loads (who also do the o2 internet in the uk). Unfortunately free hosting domains seem to get blocked more often than any of us would like

The best way i’ve found around it so far, is to use a different domain. Personally, I’ve used a .pp.ua domain:

you can then add it following this guide:

Unfortunately, these issues are hard to prevent entirely. There are tens of thousands of websites on subdomains of ct.ws, all created by different people. Despite our best efforts to combat it, some of those websites will be malicious, and have either not been taken down yet, or were simply caught by external blocklists before we found them ourselves. And some blocklists then choose to just ban the entire domain name as a precaution, instead of only blocking the specific bad sites.

This is basically an inherent problem with free subdomains.

The best way to avoid such issues is to get your own domain name. You may even be able to find some very cheap first year offers and get your own domain for only a few dollars so you can keep it until the wedding.

Hello,

Thank you all for your detailed explanations and support. I wasn’t fully aware of the nature of this problem before. It seems clear that the best solution for me will be to get my own custom domain, especially since I need the website to be fully functional for a wedding.

Regarding the temporary renaming of the wp-admin folder — I did this to prevent anyone (including myself) from accidentally starting the WordPress installation process again while I was troubleshooting. It was a simple way to block admin access without deleting anything.

I really appreciate all the help and advice provided here. Thank you very much!
